I have recently purchased a 30-06, (may convert it to a 6.5-284) mainly for the Remington action. I intend to be competing in the 100-yard competitions in Montana hopefully by the end of the summer.
What are the best scope mounts I can get?
If I intend to shoot out to 2000 yards will I need tilted mounts?
Any help would be appreciated

For Remington 700 rifles, I like the Leupold mounts and rings, but Badger makes some serious alternatives and are top notch.

While my custom 30-06 "might" make 1500 yards, I doubt if even the 6.5x284 round will make 2000 yards consistently, and yes you'll definately need mounts w/ minutes built in...., in fact I suspect you'll need a "Hour and a half" to get there. [;)]

Even 1000 yards is iffy for most cartridges, but 2000 yards *accurately* is a whole nuther ball game. I seriously doubt you will find a supersonic load that will still stabilize the bullet at that range. In order to get to 2000 yards, IMHO, anything short of a .50 BMG is a waste of time.

Have you heard of the .408 cheyenne tactical?

Nope, and I doubt many others have either.

For that matter I am sure there are all kinds of wildcats out there just like this one, the .689 Ramjet Lear Super Duper Screaming Eagle, but the point I was trying to make is that for "main stream" cartridges, 1000 yards is hard enough and 2000 is that much worse squared. Most everyone can relate to the .50 BMG in that it has been around for years and gets a lot of coverage.

I have. I like the idea of shooting less than 1 inch holes all the way out and past 2300 yards.

The 408 cheytac has been around for a while and really isn't a wildcat. It is a commercially developed long range precision round. Anyone who was around the 50bmg board over at biggerhammer.net a couple of years ago should be able to tell you all about it since it was a hot topic back then.
