If I go through a drive through window to pickup pizza, and don't tip, am I a scumbag?

Not as far as I'm concerned.

If you aren't sitting down to a meal with an actual server to wait on you, then no tip.  Simple

For the most part, I agree. But at this particular restaurant, they have the waitresses cover the drive thru window while they are busy waiting tables. It may be part of their job, but it doesn't seem like much incentive to them.

Why if you need to ask then you are.

I don't  think they expect to be tipped at drive through

Well, as long as you mention incentive, it might not be a bad idea to give them a buck or two.  It would give them incentive to not spit on your next one.

After going overseas eating cheaper and better food where tipping is not only not a custom but possibly considered rude, I am miffed that tipping is not a gratuity, but an expectation here.

Though I still tip, only because I would feel like a scumbag if I don't since it is custom here.

I do tip, but not for fast food, not for drive through, and not for shit-tastic service.

It sounds like you think you should tip, so let your conscience be your guide.

The only time I tip in "out of the ordinary" scenarios is if she's got a great rack.  Sorry.  It's my barometer.

Just read through a massive pile of entitled tipping bullshit that an acquaintance put on their face book. Actually said if you tip less than 18-20% to unfriend him...

Done. Cya.

I know tipping has been the way it is for some time, but that seems to fit in with the way our society is going. Everything is an expectation.

I remember being overseas and finding out the hard way that tipping was different. Left a nice tip by U.S. standards & the waitress refused. Explained that a small tip was acceptable if you felt the service was excellent. Large tips sort of implied that you didn't think they could support themselves.

I still tip well here, but their way is better.

AMEN BROTHER!

Everybody is under the belief that they DESERVE things to be handed to them now a days. Entitlement is rampant.

I have never tipped at a drive-thru, don't believe it's something expected.  Question in the same vein of the OP, do you tip when you order take out?  I do only because I see the tip jar at the cash register.

The only fast food I tip is the roller skating carhops.
