whats the difference between Danish and Dutch? This is probably the most confusing question I've ever tried to answer.

Why are people from the Netherlands called Dutch? Shouldn't they just be called Netherlanders?

I really need to change my sig back to "I'm not Dutch dammit!"

If I ever win the lottery or get tenure, I'm going to pay Goatboy and EdSr. to have a special ar15.com ATLAS set up, so that everyone can click on it and find Denmark and Holland.

IN fact, my fiancee had a hilarious experience the other day.  She was meeting with an HR recruiter from some big company, and he's a guy who travels a lot.  During the converstation he mentioned how frustrating it was how so many people just weren't well educated about Europe and the world (He was clearly a bit of an arrogant ass ).  Later in the conversation, she mentioned that her fiance was from Danmark, and his response was "I really like the Dutch!"    What a tool!  I mean, as much as it frustrates me when people make this mistake, it's at least somewhat understandable - but for a guy who was just bragging about how well-travelled and expert he was on Europe, it must have been really hard for her to not burst out laughing!

As a young boy, he moved from the Netherlands to Holland, searching for his Dutch parents.  Unfortunately, try as he might, he could never even find Dutchlandia.  "Denmark" was the closest he could find, and they didn't cotton to his wooden shoe-wearing foreign ways there.   Today, all he has to remember his parents by is that pair of wooden shoes - a gift from his father before the tragic boating accident that split them up forever.  Rumor has it, he still keeps those shoes on his desk in his office.

I have it on good authority that he has been contemplating joining a commune and becoming their official photographer - having been so inspired by Clean_Cut, a fellow immigrant.

At least, that's what I heard.
