I am looking at a foreclosed house that has stucco on frame. The builder had issues with having too thin a coat of stucco and there are lawsuits over failing stucco on many houses. I am most likely to avoid completely but I am curious, what if the house could be picked up for 50k less than market assuming it had no issues. What would it cost to have it removed and replaced? House is 2700 sq ft with stone front, only one story. One side 70ft with 50 across the back and 45 on the other side. Thanks in advance. |

Just dealt with stucco issues on my home. 2 story 4br 3500sf. about 10000 sf of exterior wall surface area. Removal, repair of rotted sheathing quotes were anywhere from 50-100k depending on what we wanted to replace it with. It was a huge headache and I will never buy another stucco home. I would run if I were you unless you're able to get it significantly under market value.
It may not just be bad stucco, depending on conditions there could be a huge mold problem under there that you're not going to want to have to deal with now, or when you go to resell. TLDR; RUN! |
