Do you use a screen protector?   I have a new Kindle Fire HDX and am in the process of buying a case and wondering if a screen protector is necessary.  I use a screen protector on my smart phone, but I also keep my smart phone in my pocket along with keys or whatever else.

Thanks guys.

Not on my iPad.

The kids haven't managed to scratch it yet. I've tried to teach everyone to store it face up. I have a soft case for traveling.

Used to keep the iPad in a Griffin Survivor. Then I realized its kind of silly for a device that never leaves the house, so now it just has the smart cover.

Now what I DO want is the equivalent of a Survivor or Lifeproof for the MBA...

No

I don't use screen protectors.  I have a case on the iPad that covers the screen when it's not in use.

I use screen protectors on my phones.

I don't on my tablets. (Currently: Hacked Nook Color 'droid tablet and Dell Venue 8 Windows 8 Tab)

Your scratches occur because you're tossing them in your pocket, or on top of other stuff, or otherwise wherever the fuck it makes sense to toss something you need to have with you at all times. You don't treat a Tablet that way. I've never scratched one of my Tablet Screens. And you tend to use cases that cover your screens on Tablets. Not so much on Phones.

Thanks for the input guys, you saved me $20....which I'll use to renew my membership next month.      I'm trying to spread out a few annual renewal bills that come due in January, too soon after Christmas.

I have a Samsung tablet with an Otterbox and wouldn't go without it.I am pretty rough with this pad though, in and out of truck, onto job sites, to matches and even I to the woods.
I quess it will just depend on your intented use.
