I am trying to burn 2 cd-r's onto a 1 DVD, I have a DVD+RW recorder and an extra drive to do the transfer, I tried using Record now but it will only burn one DVD

with  record now, you should be able to load up all the stuff you want to burn, then burn it.

sounds like you aren't doing something right there.....

It should be just like making a compilation CD where you load songs from multiple CDs

I stay away from burning with DVDs because I don't have a DVD burner. However, make sure that the

DVD media that you are using is compatible with the media on the CD-R. Also, if you want to just do a

plain data transfer rather than specialize the DVD (i.e. video, gaming, etc.) make sure that the program

you are using will allow you to do that.

It will only burn the first CD, I load each folder when I finish with 1 cd I load the next cd and load each folder. When is the DVD finalized?

You are going to have to transfer that data from both CDs to a folder on the hard driven and then burn to DVD.

No way to skip the hard drive?

Not really. You are talking about at least 650 meg of data. Even if you had a gig of ram, it is unlikely it would try to store all that in memory.

The only way I could think of would be to add another CD drive to your computer so the burning program could access both the CDs to be copied at the same time. Not really practical.

Thanks I found a way to chop out a lot of dead wood from the original 2 cd's and got everything on one cd, but eventually I am gonna have to archive a couple of cd's to DVD....

Right now DVD dics are a better value than CD-R as they hold 6+ times the data as a CD-R. NewEgg had 100 8x DVD+R disc for $22 this week after $10 rebate. Last month I got 100 DVD+RW for $30 after $10 rebate, rewriteable DVD are really hand for backing up data.
