What brand of hand jacking do you use? I was looking at the Sears aluminum 3-ton. Any good?

While we are at it, is ball grease required to prevent galling?

have a few, some are old bottle jacks from the 40's or older. 10 ton on down.always use a stand or a block of wood as a backup.

Harbor freight aluminum racing jack. It's all Chinese anyways, why pay extra?

At least Sears gives you a lifetime warranty if you, say, happen to snap one off...

Get a low profile aluminum racing style jack with a lot of lift to it. Harbor Frieght jacks are GTG. Just check and see that all the fasteners are tight when you take it out of the box.

Cheap jacks will have the seals blow out eventually if you use them anywhere near the rating.  If in doubt go with a heavier rating and a steel frame jack IMO.  Or you could just shell out the dough for a made in the USA jack if you are flush with cash.

Seriously. My brother-in-law never greases his balls. I grease mine regularly but am wondering if it is needed
as it seems to attract dirt and also stains my pants legs if they get to close.

Flat, wide and made of steel is what you want.

i guess harbor freight doesn't sell them anymore, but i have one of those orange steel heavy bastards going on 8 years now with no issues. seals are still good, but then i put the car on stands as soon as it lifted high enough.

for the other side of this thread, sometimes i switch hands. i find the left feels somewhat different than the right.

I've got one of those too, it must be 15 years old and still going strong.

Good tool to have, but they require respect or they'll kill you quicker than other jacks.

Omega 29023    Only jack low enough to fit under my lowered cars.  Has a saddle height lower than 3"  and will reach way under to preferred jacking points.

I have the 2 ton and it's great.  The 3ton is tempting.

No, they don't. Lifetime warranty doesn't apply to jacks, only 1-year with a receipt.

Depends on what you are lifting.

I have a 1.5t, 5t, 10t, and two 20t bottle jacks. Also a rollaround 1.5t floor jack, as well as several scissors. All have a place for lifting something.
