I tried posting this in another thread but because the discussion was much more general and looked at a ton of different plans/companies it was missed...
So a couple of concerns/questions I have that some of you might be able to help with... 1. My Galaxy S3 is fried. Well the charging jack/port is. Same thing happens to my laptops without fail every 2-3 years. Won't charge right so I have to buy a new one. Anyway, yesterday on the phone I was told I could buy a new phone for $1 as part of some special yet on their site I see no phones listed for $1. I also really love my S3 so I'd want to stick with Samsung and Android. Right now I'm seeing the "Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime" for $130 (with activation...fees to activate??). Is that going to be just as good or maybe even better than my S3? If not, are there cheaper options like maybe buying another Samsung phone at wal-mart or some other retailer? I'm not a fan of buying anything electronic on CL. 2. The prices. It seems like each month the prices change. Right now, and for the last few months, the trend seems to be you get more data for less and less money. But what if the trend becomes the same or less data for more money? What's the experience/thinking there? 3. Switching my phone's contents. Usually with Verizon, you backup your phone's contents every so often and if anything happens to that physical phone, you just download everything on a new phone. Can I do that when switching over or is it significantly limited to say contact lists and maybe texts? Pics/vids are what mean the most to me right up there with the contact list. Thanks -Emt1581 |

1. comparison between two phones
Pretty close to the same it looks. If you want the phone, buy it online from cricket and have them send you the phone, sim card, activation info. Most local stores charge a $20 fee for activation. Online I did not pay any fee. 2. I wouldn't worry about the pricing so much. Plans keep getting cheaper and cheaper. I am on autopay and pay $35 for 2.5GB of LTE. After that it slows down but I don't use much data anyway. 3. If you have a google account you will have your contacts backed up. Pictures and everything else need to be configured to backup to picasa or whatever else google uses. |

We have had it for about three weeks, so far so good.
I got a Moto X for fifty bucks and I am paying as I go for the service. No dropped calls, no issues, but it has only been three weeks They are owned by AT&T I went out right after and bought some AT&T stock to make me feel better about going to them |

I see that they are now releasing GSM devices instead of CDMA. That should improve things ten fold. |

Been with Cricket or 5 or 6 week now They're on the ATT network which I had before, no problems with it. Got a Moto E, sort of a beginner's smart phone Contacts and such come from Google contacts but you can use yahoo or outlook mail if you have those I had to pay some new account fees I doubt the price will go up, the market is so competitive they would lost customers in a heartbeat since their plan is no contract |

It really depends on your area; I'm on the autopay/2.5GB/$35 plan for three months now, and Cricket > Sprint for me. 4G LTE at home with no dead zones or roaming on my commute; signal strength is greatly improved, no dropped calls yet. Sprint used to drop calls walking around the house and was strictly 3G. The only problem is sending pictures, the receiver gets it exactly 15 or 27 hours before I sent it according to the timestamp...and where it places it in the conversation. "I didn't get what you sent" ummm, scroll to earlier today or yesterday "oh okay, got it, WTF how did you do that."  |

Now here's my last question about Cricket....and Verizon. If I order a Galaxy Prime from Cricket this weekend and then do the $35 plan...and it doesn't work out for whatever reason, can I then tell Verizon to add that phone to my Verizon plan? Essentially, I don't want to piss away $130 on a phone that won't work with Verizon (as a backup plan). Thanks -Emt1581 |

Check out their coverage maps....they seem pretty accurate.... |

AT&T bought Cricket and moved everyone from CDMA to GSM. Which means the old Cricket that did suck is now an amazing network that can be had for just 35 bucks a month. Its ridiculous. |
