Its a scam. My BIL fell for it. You pay x amount of dollars and get bids. They have you bid in a special section first which guarantees you a win of extra bids. After that you have to bid with the "public" and every bid the item goes up $.01 and that is the price you pay if you win. The problem is that you can almost never win. Plus they soak you for more money once you run out of bids and then pay to get more. Once you buy more and bid more you are just raising the price of the item. So even if you do win you basically paid full price for the item.
Cost of bids + cost of item + your time = $$$$ |
| Yeah, I'd stay far away from that. Basically, if you want to do it, only bid on things you want to buy anyways. If you lose a bidding war you can buy the item minus the cost of your bids, so you technically don't lose any money. So if you are in the market for a new computer, it may be worth it. However, if you are just trying to get cheap shit, stay far away. |

Couple buddies at the office and I got froggy and pooled some cash. Bought $200 worth of bids and went at it. Made 4 times that after selling the stuff we won. Didn't go back!
Genius idea on their part. An ipad eventually nets then over $1k before it's all said and done with all the bids that go in it. |

Think of it like a Raffle for an 70 or 80 or 90% off coupon.
Buy more 'tickets' and you're more likely to win. You're paying for the right to buy the item cheaply. Still have to pay for the item (10 or 20% of it's regular retail price) even after you've bought all the raffle tickets. AFARR |
