About a month or 2 ago I purchased a Spec-Ops brand Duplex Supersheath. I liked it a lot. I could keep both my surefire and my leatherman on me at the same time. I have worn it daily since I got it and actually had my tools on me when I needed them. Great design, except the snap closures. I consistently find them open.

Well, earlier this week we were doing battle drills for ROTC in the woods. We finished up and I found one of the snaps open... and my leatherman gone. Last night I went bowling and when I came back to my dorm found a snap open and my is surefire gone. $70+ worth of stuff gone in a week. It's not like I'm abusing this stuff, but it's made for the military, so shouldn't it be able to handle an evening of bowling? I'm sure you guys would get pissed if you found magazines missing from your CCW rig, right?

I emailed them a few minutes ago and I don't know what they could do for me, but I pointed out that if I can't keep my gear from falling out on a day to day basis, why should I trust their gear in the field as a soldier?

If any of you want to donate a surefire or Leatherman... jk

I know this isn't the rantiest of rants and there's no cursing (I don't swear), so don't score me too low.

Fail for obvious attempt at begging free stuff.

Which semester do you guys get to take Bad Swears 101?  That'll really help in your future rants.

i ALWAYS test snaps and encloseures on my gear before carrying anything.

are you sure someone didn't open it and take the surefire while it was in your room?

if it's defective i am sure they will replace the sheath but the contents i doubt.

I'm not actually begging for free stuff, I already ordered a replacement surefire, and had already saved some cash for a SOG multitool, just waiting for it to be released next month.

Also, I just don't swear as I'm a Christians. i'm more curious about other people's dealings with SpecOps and other similar manufactures.

I've been using the single version of the super sheath for at least 5 years, owned about half a dozen of them, and had no problems.  You know the length of the flap is velcro adjustable, right?  If you have it a little less tight that snap won't be as likely to get accidentally opened.  The new generation super sheaths have velcro closures too, no more snaps.

Yeah, I'm aware that the velcro adusts. I'm hoping maybe they'll send me a new one as a replacement. The snaps seem to be easy to relase, especially compared to the ones on my rifleman's kit.

They might have changed the snaps, all the single super sheaths I have are a bitch to unsnap.
