What in the fuck is an 'RPD'? You guys always use these abbreviations and half of us don't know what you're talking about. Jesus sweetheart, don't fucking Google it or anything. It's a fucking gun. You know what an AR-15 is, or are acronyms for dickheads? |

Actually, I don't. Never saw the benefit of owning intrinsically inaccurate weapons that shoot inaccurate rounds which have a shorter stand-off range than NATO bloc small arms. I do like machine guns, though. ![]() Wow, you really have no idea about what you're talking about. Post less |

I guess if yours isn't problematic, they can be fun. My has been a shit storm of malfunctions since the get go, but I have it at my gunsmith, investing $500 more into it and if it fails me one more time, I'm going to cull it from the collection. |

LONG trigger reset, loading belts is a huge pain, it's no fun to clean, it's heavy and awkward.
However, that time in between loading belts and cleaning the thing, when you're out on some private land, with a few drums slung over your shoulder, you immediately forget all the drawbacks of the thing and just grin. I have no regrets for getting mine. BTW...I have had issues with belts...they come as 2 50-round belts that hook together. One has a starter tab and then another hooks onto the end of that one. There are 2 different types of belt out there and the sets I've had have had 1 style for the starter-tab belt, then another style for the other belt that hooks on to it. That second belt always gives me FTEs, so I usually just use the starter tab belts alone until I find matching sets. |

I had a semi that had a 14" barrel and pin/welded M60 flashider.
Ran great as long as you run it wet, even lube the links. After a couple of years I sold it because it could not do anything better than a RPK that has been cut down and uses a drum for higher capacity. Big cool factor and other folks sure enjoyed shooting it at the range. |

11bravo01, is yours at LRK right now? A Wiselite? I noticed it needs the flat shim spring that applies pressure to the drum retention latch. Mine's a Wiselite and they "forgot" to install one on mine too. Tim McBride installed that spring on mine and did the barrel chop/thread. (Mine in front, Tim's 2 fullauto's behind) http://i1033.photobucket.com/albums/a416/kineticeq/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_5167_zps3lmgs9zs.jpg Oh god this. |

| I found myself thinking of getting an rpd once but there isnt a YUGE selection of them out there. Sure belt fed would be cool but everything the rpd does the rpk does better. Drums are easy to load and available. Its lighter, has many interchangeable parts with the ak world. Its cheaper though they are more expensive than they used to be. Really if you offered to trade me an rpd for my rpk i would do it, sell it on gunbroker then buy another rpk and 5000rnds of ammo. There is a reason they are no longer used by the combloc countries. |
| I just got a shorty version from Project Guns and love it so far. It's heavy, but still ok to fire from the shoulder. Haven't really put it on paper yet,but hitting the 100yrd back yard gong is no problem. It also came with the saw nutsack adapter which I likes, broke some belts down to 80rds to fit the saw pouches. The belts load pretty easily by hand, the L style are a little harder to load. |
|
I have two. The first came from DSA the second from Project Guns.
I need to send the DSA gun to Stan at Project Guns so he can make it right.
I got a belt loader from Stan a few months back and recently had a chance to try it out. Its not exactly a mechanical wonder but it sure makes things easier on the fingers. Can snap five to six in at a time. |

I'm looking buy myself a Christmas gift and wanted to see what you guys thought....what say you?!? https://www.apexgunparts.com/media/catalog/category/RPD_Catagory_Image_Web_1_1.jpg I'm about to have one. Selling unfired garbage can guns to fund it |

I had one for a few years and it is a very fun gun. They are heavy, and I would highly recommend the shortened versions.
I let mine go, and to be honest I don't miss it. They have good re-sale value. The kits have gotten outrageously expensive, I would get an RPD sooner rather than later if you want one. I have a several other "Semi" builds, including a Bren and a BAR. The RPD is the cheapest of them all, and the cheapest to shoot. It's also the most simple mechanically, and they are pretty easy to tinker with if they don't run as they should. 1919/1917's and the Vickers have gotten too damned expensive. |
