The wife and I went to look at campers yesterday and found a leftover 2015 Jayco JAY FLIGHT 184BH we really like. It would be an upgrade from an old Coleman pop-up that we have outgrown and has definitely seen better days. The problem is that I really don't feel like their "deal" is really that great. It is listed online for $14,900. We had no intention of making a purchase yesterday, so I didn't bother trying to haggle or anything. I just asked for their best price and they came back with around $11,000.

Since this is last year's model, I thought they could do better than that, but I am far from an expert when it comes to purchasing a new RV. I did look online at other manufacturers/dealers and I saw that I can get the exact same floor plan starting at around $10,000 without me setting foot in the door.

What is a realistic number to be asking for, especially considering it is a leftover 2015?

Best I can do is offer this link of current for sale in various parts of country....jayco jaflight 184b

Eta: based on what I am seeing. New 2015 for $11k would be in expected range.....

Well that is a bit of a bummer, I had hoped for a bit more wiggle room!

How is the quality of Coleman these days? I am only familiar with their pop-ups and know they had some issues for a couple years there with leaky roofs. Honestly, there are just too many brands!

Just tossing this out. You may want to look at some of the oil field areas for a new or used Camper.

Buy used.     They depreciate like an anvil thrown off a bridge.

If you think you can get it for 10k at different location, then offer that.

If they say no... go buy one for 10k at the other locations

The dealers I talked to/bought from weren't really interested in haggling price.  Want it or not?  It will sell soon enough.

Is there any big RV shows coming up near you?   I have gotten the best deals at RV shows.   Left overs were always a better deal.

I don't know enough about RVs to offer an opinion but I'm sure someone will jump in shortly.....

We went to an RV show last year and the majority of what was on display was 5th wheels, toy haulers, and motor coaches. The few travel trailers on display were over 25' and loaded with multiple slide-outs. I was definitely impressed with what we saw but none of it would be something I could realistically take home.

As far as used, we have looked at some used campers, our previous and current pop-up I bought used. I know there are savings to be had buying used, but I was thinking it would be nice to have something without any signs of wear.

I had thought about looking out of state. I live outside of Nashville and Indiana is only a couple hours away. Someone mentioned in another thread that there is a wholesaler that sells to the public up there. Would it be worth my while to be looking in Indiana since it seems like most RV's are made there?
