My 2003 Infinity I 35 has recently sprung a small leak in the radiator.
Its looking like it may be a few weeks before I can swap it out which leads to my question.
Should I go ahead and add a bottle of one of the many Radiator Stop leak products or simply check the fluid level and keep it topped off for a few weeks.
I’m not sure if the additive may have any negative effects on the coolent system in the long term to warrant using it simply for a short term stop-gap.
Thanks for the tips.

This situation is exactly what the stuff was designed for.  A temporary fix.  Dump it in and when you're ready to swap in the new radiator make sure to flush the coolant system well.

Just be aware that it can stop up other parts of the cooling system with it.  Personally, if I could keep the vehicle running for less than a week before replacement and the leak isn't very large, I'd go that route.

I stay away from that stuff.  Too many things can go wrong - damage to the water pump, clogged passages in the engine block, etc.

Keep on eye on the coolant level, top off as needed, keep a jug or two in the trunk, replace the radiator when you can.

Tried it 20 years ago.  Ruined the thermostat.  Drained coolant, changed thermostat.  Ruined new thermostat In 2 days.  Drained, tried, changed thermostat again.  Ruined that thermostat on one week.  Flushed, changed thermostat again, finally worked.  Overall, not worth it at all.

Don't do it... aluminum engine and probable OAT coolant + goop = bad news.

All of the above, plus, if your leak happens to be a crack in one of the plastic end caps, the stop-leak stuff won't seal it anyway. I'd keep an eye on your coolant level and keep a couple gallons of water in the trunk until you can get it changed out.

Park it and drive a rental until you repair it right the first time...

Band aids are just that... band aids.
