Ty in advance.
I have a cabin 30 miles away from the nearest radio station. I have no electricity. I'm looking for a battery power portable radio, with a digital tuner that can pull in distant stations without turning the radio or constantly fucking with the antenna. I can get no AM stations, and FM is spotty. AM is probably 50 miles away. Suggestions? Experience? $$$ is really not an issue, I just want a radio to listen to. It must have a digital tuner. C.Crane has been in business for quite a while. Check them for something.

This is a really good radio, and has an external antenna jack, amateur radio 2-meter, and weather band. It also comes in black.
Here is another good one from Eton, but it doesn't have amateur radio or weather band The antenna is the most important component. Something like this one from Amazon would probably work pretty well. Forty miles may be out of range depending on terrain, but if FM is already just "spotty," an omni should work. If you know the location of the signal you want to receive, a directional one such as this one which claims 60-70 mile range would be much better, but would require some fiddling. Also, why rely on battery power? If money is no problem, you should look at solar cell kits. Get yourself some juice out there! |
