I'm not sure what your purpose is but the Geissele mounting system seems more stable to me.

ETA: I wasn't even the first to vote in the poll.

I'm switching from a Daniel Defense DDM4v1 FSP rail... sick of the front sight post getting in the way.

I'm looking for something that will last a long time... or until I find something newer and/or cooler.

I use the hell out of my rifle, and not just pulling the trigger. It goes up to the mountains with me regularly and I need it to hold up.

These two options have really caught my eye lately and seem to be good solid systems.

I was just thinking about what the difference is... anything besides the permanent rail sections at the front of the MK4?

Nope.

But they are the same price so you basically get the attachments for free, and the weight difference on the 13s in only 0.2 ounces so any rail you add is probably gonna make the MK8 end up weighing more.

Mostly though I just like how they look more.

I would choose the Mk8 out of the 2 but would prefer a Mk4.  I typically use the tiny picatinny sections at the front of the rail.  No sense adding MLOK picatinny sections when I can get a rail that already comes with them machined in.

Hell, I like the Mk4 so much, 2 out of my 6 AR's wear them.

I'm trying to compare the weight of my current DDm4v1 rail to these Geissele rails but I can't find the weight of my rail anywhere... Would it be similar to the DDm4a1 fsp rail?

The DDm4a1 fsp rail is 17 ounces and the Geissele mk8 is almost 13... 4 ounces doesn't seem like very much weight loss.

If it's a newer one, I'm pretty sure it has the Lite Rail III.  The FSP model of that rail appears to be listed at 13.2oz in weight (unknown if that includes the barrel nut or not).

You also have to factor in the weight of that chunky FSB too, since you'll be swapping it out for a LPGB.

The top rifle in my pictures actually wore a DD RIS II M4A1 FSP rail prior to installing the Mk4.  The difference in weight between the 2 was very noticeable.

UTG PRO M-lok or KeyMod. It's slim, lightweight, solid as a rock (steel barrel nut), anti rotation tabs and has top tier fit and finish. I know your thinking UTG is a joke, but don't discount this rail. Then spend the rest on ammo

I got one of those fancy Aero E15 uppers with a rail.
