Hope U men can help me out here. I expect to be at FT Benning for my sons graduation on OCT 22nd if all goes as planned. I'd like to get him something appropreate for this very special occasion. Also missed his birthday while he was in training. He is 24. Any suggestions? I know, That TAB is probably the only thing on his mind right now. |
| By all accounts he'll just be glad to be done and see a face that isn't yelling at him. I would say if you're going to get a gift, there are plenty of in town options to choose from with some generic gifts at either Ranger Joe's or Commandos. But you could get the best gift of all... first decent meal he's had in 3 months. I recommend the Buckhead Grill on Armour St. but you have all the chain restaurants by Exit 10 and by Target too. |

Thank you sir, Ranger Joe's sounds about right |

What's his rank/branch/MOS? A good meal is cool and all, but you'll get the chance to take him out on the Wednesday and Thursday prior to graduation. One thing he will appreciate is if you send him a copy of his favorite book in his FL care package, assuming it isn't too late (it's getting close). I felt like I was mentally starved after FL considering i literally hadn't read anything in 2 months. After his FL patrols are finished, there is a lot of sitting around/time wasting. We had a copy of the Bayonet (Fort Benning news paper) that we treated like gold. I must have read the ads 3 times. |

Quoted: Quoted: Thanks for all the help guys. I think I will go with some nice cold steel. give him my congrats. On the more practical side, A 1 o'clock offset optic with mount for his inevitable ACOG would go well. He's a 2Lt headed to Rich...my guess is infantry type. A solid fixed blade for JM duty would be pretty nifty. |
