Yesterday during a game of the Brasilian Championship Series, Fred Guedes scored with a beautiful bicycle kick. I know afrcom hates "third world sports" but this really is something you have to appreciate.

Better camera angle at 0:42

Greatest moment of my "high school sports career" was a bicycle kick scoring goal.

Wasn't an important game, and we were winning anyway, but it impressed the hell out of everyone there.

Felt great.......to hear the entire place, other team as well, let out an audible "Ohhhh,,,,ahhhhhh"

BTW, mine was from about 25 yards out.

Without the Comte de Sivrac in 1791, inventing the bicycle, this would not have been possible.   Let's give credit to true greatness.  No bicycle, no bicycle kick...see?

I found the fact that it sounded like the announcer was speaking Japanese with a Scottish accent around the 30-45 second marks way more interesting. Soccer =

Can soccer players be penalized for excessive celebration?

And even though it was inSpanish Japanese with a Scotish accent , I'm pretty sure I heard the announcer say, "BOOM, mutherfucker!" near the end of the clip.

And it's a much better display of athleticism than 3rd world who-cares ball.

High level gymnasts are just spectacular, very few compare to them as far as having usable combinations of speed, strength, dexterity and agility.

But they get negative modifiers for charisma, wisdom, and intelligence.

(bad rpg joke)

I'd imagine that happens about 10,000 times everyday on playgrounds all over the world.  So, incredible athleticism?  No.

When I was a kid we called that "the Pele".

I like soccer, but if that's your idea of the height of athleticism, or even ranks in your top 50 instances, you should get out more.
