I'm looking for a reasonably priced tablet for general use.
I saw a Samsung tab3 7.0 at costco but reviews are not very flattering on it.
I thought Samsungs were GTG Tier one WTF bbq !/!1
So, how about some suggestions please.

I have a nexus 7 that works good for what I use it for. Reading, Web surfing, netflix, HBO Go.

I got a deal on a slightly used one at work though for $100. I would not have it if I had to pay retail.

I have an iPad 3 Verizon 64 gig (the first one with retina) and it is still going strong.  Out of curiosity I bought a 2013 Nexus 7 to try to see how Android compared.  It is an ok device but it just isn't nearly as easy or efficient as my iPad.  I like the Nexus just fine and if it was my only tablet I would make it work but having both, it just sits there and isn't being used hardly at all.  Not to mention that I have apps crash on it way more often than the iPad.  I bet the iPad has crashed maybe only 5 times in the 2 years I have owned it.  The Nexus has crashed much more than that and I have only owned it for about 3 months.

YMMV

Got a Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 for my bday and has done everything I've needed it for.
Ebooks
Websurfing
Porn

Oh, Netflix. Can't forget Netflix.
Doesn't do Amazon Prime though.

Then get the Nexus 7 2013 model.
Depending upon what you are using it for, the Kindle Fire HDX is actually not too bad.  I tried one of those also.  It is a bunch better than the first Gen Fire or the Fire HD.

Battery life and speakers were outstanding.  Cool to be able to store on the hard drive some of the Prime movies for later viewing also.

There is a thread around here somewhere where people rave about the HiSense Pro.

Seems like a good bang for the buck tablet.

I have the Samsung Tab 2, and it's good for what I use it for. Kindle books, Netflix, ARF, email etc.
It is almost 2 years old and getting a little slow with only a dual core and 8GB RAM.
The thing I hate about it is the stupid 16 pin charger..I have like a billion micro usb chargers in my house, but I have to use the proprietary Samsung charger for the Tab 2.

It does have an IR Blaster, so you can use it as a remote for your TV, Blu-Ray, etc with the Samsung Peel app. I thought it was cool.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition and love it. Had the note 10.1 and a tab 10.1 previously. Never had any issues.

Mostly poor screen resolution.
Google " Samsung Galaxy Tab3 7.0 reviews " for many opinions.

What kind of phone do you have? If you have an iPhone, save yourself the trouble and get an iPad. The Mini can be had for around $300.

He said 'reasonably priced'.

Nexus 7 (the second gen one) is great for the price.

I'm looking forward to the 8" version... I like the 7", but I don't need the 'HD TV aspect ratio' screen. I'd rather have it a little wider when in portrait orientation. Web pages and anything you read just looks better when the aspect ratio is like a piece of paper, not a widescreen TV flipped on its side.

I did a very recent topic about buying a 7" tablet, which I did.  I got the Nexus 7 from Google (7-Inch, 16 GB, Black) by ASUS (2013) Tablet, and it does exactly what I wanted and more.  Short thread... might help some understand a few things...

I know my short thread helped me zero in on what was best for my uses.

depends on what you want.  you're not going to be able to replace your laptop with an ipad.  it just isn't going to happen, unless you do nothing at all with your laptop except media.  personally, i don't really need a laptop.  desktops work better for my needs, and i don't usually need a full-function mobile computer.  so i run a mac desktop and an ipad.  but there are times when i would really, really like a full OS environment on the go, as well as a better file system.

if you're planning to do some productivity work (word processing, excel, whatever) on your mobile machine, personally i'd go with a win8 tablet.  they're still conveniently small, but they're more of a traditional OS productivity environment and they should integrate seamlessly with your windows ecosystem.  but unless you think that's going to be a necessity, i would take a look at ipad--go fingerbang it in the store and see what you think.

Asus memopad. Same company that makes the nexus for Google, but has better features and only $140.

I got one of those for my dad for christmas last year and it stopped taking a charge a month ago.  I haven't even tried dealing with their CS yet as the serial number is unreadable on the back of it and wal-mart wont let me make a claim since it's still under manufacturer warranty.

Apple refurb...I have a refurb'ed Ipad 2 still going strong. You can get the iPad 4 for $400 or less, it's really a no-brainier as you can put a AppleCare on it.

The Pro 3 would be excellent, but that's a lot of money for someone who might be considering a Nexus 7 for general use. I do love Surfaces though.

Android tablets other than the Nexus 7 seem to suck quite a bit and the super low end ones are just a disaster.

Or just like the guy who posted after you and has one that's useless. If you think a $100 tablet running a 2.5 year old version of Android is a good idea then there's probably not much I can say that'll make you understand how much better a "modern" tablet is.
