I've never fished the umbrella rig, but may try it since it seems to produce in cold water. I wonder if those umbrella rigs work on big stripers, also? Yes. $10-$15 for the basic rig and $5-$10 for the baits.... snag that $35 rig on a submerged log and get p.o.'d real quick.... |

She's a pig. Do bass spawn this early in Tennessee? It looks like she's full of eggs, but that might just be her big old gut. Seems early for spawning. On the Chick, fish will start staging in mid February. Once water temp gets above mid 50s, spawn is on. This time of year on Guntersville, bass are using creek channels off the main river as highways to better spawning territory. |

I always forget that not everything moves like it does in Iowa! Slow growing season here for bass. No wonder our record is only like 10 pounds. |

I've never fished the umbrella rig, but may try it since it seems to produce in cold water. I wonder if those umbrella rigs work on big stripers, also? Yes. They have been trolling umbrella rigs in saltwater and reservoirs for a long time. Stripers will eat it just fine. My preference...65# braid (might go 80# for stripers), 7'6" - 7'10" rod, there are some dedicated A rig rods. I found a super heavy crankbait rod that I would throw 10XDs on that is really sweet for throwing A rigs. I tend to use an odd ball color for the bait in the center and the rest matching colors. It can be a workout heaving that thing, but it catches fish. |
| Nice fish. I like how bass fisherman get all excited about 10 pound fish. I don't get excited unless I'm into a 50+ pound fish and. We catch alot of white sturgeon out here and we have some that have gone over 8 feet. Nothing like the Columbia river fish but we do get some brutes out here. A few years ago A guy in San Pablo Bay got into a 12 foot fish estimated to weigh 450+ pounds |

Guess which one is on the wall, and guess which one is just a citation in a frame? I won't mount another bass until I break 10lbs. |

The world record largemouth bass was caught by George Perry in Montgomery Lake in Georgia in 1932. The world record bass was 22 pounds and 4 ounces. That world record has held up for 8 decades! Some people were skeptical of this world record because no pictures had been found, but in 2006 relatives of George Perry produced pictures of the world record fish. Below is a photo of George holding his record largemouth bass. http://www.luckylures.nl/bass_record/perrybassphoto2.jpg mmm no, lake bowa in japan produced on larger. |

Sweet bass. LM Bass are extremely fun to catch. They dart back and forth and jump out of the water trying to shake off the hook and sometimes get away with it. They're like the freshwater Marlin. "big" ones usually don't. My biggest is an 8 on a jig. Boat in 70' of water, fishing a rock wall. She inhaled the jig and didn't move. Felt like I set the hook on a stump. She then went straight for deep water under my boat. Landed her by myself, using 15 lb PLine CXX. Won the tournament with that one fish (although I had five for 16). My biggest was a 70 lb sailfish on the Gulf Stream. I'd rather catch the bass. |
I got jipped.
