In a scientific (If yet drunken experiment) I watched the original Red Dawn again tonight followed by the new one for the first time. To be fair, I watched the original back when it came out in theaters, so I might be slightly biased (and maybe a tad drunk) , but.... the new Red Dawn sucks Donkey Balls. That is all. |

In this instance, the science is settled. |

I'm just glad I am not alone in this. After seeing rave reviews of the new version, I was pretty much thinking WTF after the first 15 min. To make sure I was completely scientific, I suffered through the whole thing, then deleted it off of my Hard Drive. You know, typing is hell when 3/4 inebriated, thanks whomever for spellcheck. |

Theres an Australian Red Dawn made a few years ago that blows the new US version away. Hot ass chicks too.

The new version would have been a better movie if it had any name other than Red Dawn. I enjoyed it, but the whole time I was thinking of the original. As a stand alone movie with no history behind it, it was good almost watchable. So you turned it off part way through, or admit you watched the whole movie? |

Quoted: Based off a teen book trilogy and the books a tons better than that movie. I would watch the other movies if they ever make them though Quoted: Quoted: Theres an Australian Red Dawn made a few years ago that blows the new US version away. Hot ass chicks too. Theres an Australian Red Dawn made a few years ago that blows the new US version away. Hot ass chicks too. Edit: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1456941/ I watched it last week. It was very different than Red Dawn in that they didn't become some badass bunch of kids. Instead they played a bunch of scared little kids who refused to kill anybody except the one girl because "she already had blood on her hands". They decide to blow up a bridge and suddenly the geeky girl has to kill and becomes an instant homicidal maniac, Probably more realistic than the first. They were scared. It was more of a Sixteen Candles/Breakfast Club/Risky Business coming of age movie than a patriotic war movie. As for the latest Red Dawn it absolutely sucked. There was no context. The original was released at the height if the Cold War. This new one...N. Korea? Seriously? Oh yeah, we're terrified of N. Korea, they're about to launch paratroopers into Colorado any minute now

As a stand alone movie with no history behind it, it was good. So many of today's reboots would be ok films if they didn't try to live up to the original. |
