[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Relevant posts -- thread updates

I've noticed lots of long running threads on the site that are super-interesting in terms of what's being covered, but at the same time have tons of general conversation intermixed with updates. It'd be nice if thread updates could be flagged and the threads could be viewed in an "update-only" view or something so that we don't have to read through many pages of emoticons, quotes and support to get the updates on the topic.

It's not exactly what you're saying, but I usually just click on the down arrow next to the nick in the "Last Post" column, to get to the end of the thread. Then I scroll back until I see posts I recognize, or timestamps from the last time I looked.

What about the new option that highlights posts made by the original poster? Most relevant "updates" to a thread are made by the OP so this feature should come in rather useful.
