Anybody remember your very first paycheck.

Mine was $139.84. I think I was like 16 and was making $3.35 an hour.

2 weeks of pay at 35 hours a week, $7.50 an hour, then whatever tax was.

Before then I had not had that kind of money before

I did save the first paycheck from my first "Career" type job.   It was around $1800 bucks for two weeks.  Not bad seeing as how my contemporaries are still tending bar and rotating tires, but they were the popular ones and I was the "nerd".

I do remember my first paycheck!

That was the day I learned what social security, and federal and state income tax were, and how much they sucked

Nope.

But it was 1973 and I was all of 13 yrs old. Dad and I were burying telephone cables in the country side that summer. I do remember that mom took me to the bank and had me open a checking account with the money though. And I've had one ever since.

I do remember that same summer I was on the staff for the Boy Scout's summer camp. I worked two weeks and got around $60. It wasn't much, as I was there 6 days each week for 24 hrs each day. But I did get discounts and coupons for use at the commissary so that helped ease the pain.

Somewhere around $120-130 i'd guess, $4.25 x 40 hours - whatever the tax was in 1984. I was 14 years old working on a survey crew. My dad's friend owns the company. I was so pissed when i found out i was going to be working that summer. Then the checks started coming in, and i could afford all the computer shit i drooled looking at in magazines. Didn't mind so much then

I don't remember how much, but it was from Ponderosa Steakhouse and I had just barely turned 16.

Mine was sacking groceries back in 1968 making min. wage at the time  $1.65 an hr.   I was part time so I do not remember the total.   Probably 25 hrs. which ,after taxes ,was about  $37.00 a week.  It was money back then and I learned from the experience.  To this day, I like sacking my own groceries. I tell the help that I used to do this when I was their age!
Got a job shortly there after for big money.  Went to work for Simmons Mattress Co. and made $3.00 an Hr.  Bought a 1970 GTX 440 with that job for $4,780.00 brand new off the show room floor.
Wish I still had that car today!!!!

No, it was 1977. IIRC, I was making around $3/hour...

I remember thinking the same thing that Jennifer Anniston said on the first episode of Friends: "Hey, who's this FICA guy, and why is he getting all of my money?"

My first check was $75 for 40 hours - working on a horse farm - I worked my ass off on that job! It helped inspire me when I went to college..

I don't remember how much the total was, but I was getting paid $3.35 an hour to sling burgers, fry chicken, clean bathrooms, take out trash, wipe down tables and other assorted crap... makes me really appreciate my job now.

Just got it about a month ago.

$198 working about 22 hours a week for two weeks. For $5.50 an hour.

The job/pay sucks but when you have no expenses it seems like a lot more money.

ETA: I am pretty proud of making my own money, even if it's not very much. It'll be sweet when I buy a motorcycle with it, and I'll definitely appreciate it.

I still have my first paycheck.  My LES for the month of September, 2001.  The Marine Corps was my first real job where I actually recieved a paycheck.  I would have to dig it out of the filing cabinet, but I think it was around $900 something, if I remember right.
