What SW is the best, cheapest, free?

I can install the host SW on my PC, but I need the client app to run from a jump drive.

I don't have 7 pro or whatever version comes with RDP so I need something else.

What service provider do you use for routing to your PC?

All of that stuff.

Team Viewer is free for noncommercial use.

It can be installed, or run from a jumpdrive.

I like it. I've used Logmein, occasionally and Webex by Cisco regularly, but I do like the features of Team Viewer.

YMMV

Try teamviewer.

It's free if it's for personal use.

Upgrade to win7 pro.  Right click Properties on My Computer.  Bottom left, Windows Anytime Upgrade.  You can buy it outright from MS or you can buy a key for less online and enter it.  Instant upgrade and problem solved.

+1 for team viewer.

Use it on all my families computers to save me the frustration of walking them through fixing their own computers...

Enable RDP on your machine, set it to listen on a particular port.  Obtain a DNS domain and point it at your house.  Enable port forwarding on your router to forward to your RDP port.

Connect using any RDP client.

My field engineers use team viewer all the time to connect to our experts in Germany to solve many problems. It works great because you use an exter al host site and do not have worry about port forwarding and static ip addresses
