I can't believe the first Cola Warrior Keystone has come and gone already! It wasn't without a few minor issues, but I'm very happy with how it went for a first year event. This event wouldn't be possible without our sponsors, staff and each of you who participated. I'd like to take a moment to recognize a couple of people who went above and beyond in making this event a success: @Hill_monkey, @WhiskerstheCat and @ORJeepGuy worked some long days making sure everyone got run. @binary_operator also jumped in to lighten the load. We can't forget @brodozer and his kitchen on wheels, along with the others who assisted in keeping us fed. I also  @johnstoner for sponsor relations and offering a lot of helpful advice in getting this event off the ground. Obstacle 1: There's light...(at the end of the tunnel): push a 20lb ball uphill through a ~24" diameter corrugated drainage pipe. This was my gimme obstacle - 100% completion. #2: Not a conex: handstand walk using a 20' long plywood wall - nearly 69% completion. #3: The chain of pain: everyone's favorite, where you drag a heavy chain around the car port - 89% completion #4: Peepsketball: toss a 25/40 lb slam ball through an elevated peep cutout 6/3 times respectively - 78% completion #5: The floor is (lava): use laminated 2x4's to traverse preplaced concrete blocks from point A->B - 44% completion. Just over 34% of competitors managed to complete all five obstacles. After your run, you were greeted with the shooting portion of Cola Warrior. Pistol 1 consisted of a plate rack and MOA's mini-mo followed by a high value target. Virtually everyone cleared the plate rack, but a mini-mo at 35 yards is a formidable target (69% hit both flappers), and the stress of a HVT (64% hit rate) dropped pistol 1 completion to just 50% of runners. Pistol 2 was a couple of poppers and reduced size IPSC's at distances of up to 73 yards followed by another HVT. The nearest reduced IPSC and popper had completion rates exceeding 95%, but people began to slip on the longer popper (88%) and then the decline became more evident as they engage the longer target at about 73 yards (77%) and the final pistol HVT (67%). Some of this could be due to a lack of ammo, but it brought the pistol 2 stage completion rate to just under 61%. Under 36% of shooters managed to clear both pistol 1 and 2. 14 impacts were required in all. From there, we retrieved rifles and moved uphill to the short rifle stage, which emphasized standing shots at distances under 125 yards. The standing unsupported portions from behind the barricade didn't prove to be too challenging with 96-98% completing the right side shots and some decline on the left side shots (82-95% individually), bringing overall completion to 83%. The diamond shaped targets had hit rates of over 95%, although the one handed shots proved a bit trickier with a completion rate of 78-81% and the HVT claimed a number of victims (75% completion). This brought the overall completion rate for this 13 impact stage to under 58%. Move uphill further to the rocks, which provided a long range shooting position. We had targets at 369 yards (83% completion), 411 (78%), 460 (69%), 485 (64%), 577 (64%), 649 (45%) and 707 yards (50%). Many people depleted their ammo on this stage and didn't have anything left to engage the HVT (56% hit the target). The two closer targets were reduced size IPSC's, while the intermediate range targets were full size targets. The longest target was modeled after a walking human, so it offered a bit more area for hits than the others. Completion for the 8 impact long stage was under 33% and the combined rifle stages only had a 25% completion rate. Overall shooting completion rate was under 16%. From there, competitors moved into the chug, where they tried to consume 72 ounces of carbonated, non-alcoholic beverages. Only 37.5% of people managed to enjoy all it! In all, we had 5 clean runs (6 if you count the rule-bending Asstac team - and I did for the the statics above), or 8-9% of total competitors. |

first! had an awesome time as always and DLM put together a brutal yet awesome course and overall event. a good and messy time was had by all, especially me. After an unfortunate double funnel cake batter incident in the kitchen, the next morning i decided to run "splatter class", among the many other names people gave it. I got more obstacles than I thought I would, and cleaned the 700 yard rifle course with a TA01, with some spotter help of course. I still need to be less fat and run or something. many pics to follow. Huge thanks to Mr. Bill for letting us use the venue and for the awesome prize table, and the continuing support of the Cola Wars. What an awesome event! Night run was tough and I have lots to improve on but will be excited to see where I stack up next year. Can’t thank Brodozer, Nick, Zach and the rest of the kitchen crew enough for providing great food day and night to fuel this event! RO’s and staff you had a killer job walking up and down that hill day and night, thanks for the hard work and keeping the standard of harsh but fair. To the sponsors, this was a very special event and can’t thank you enough for supporting CW over the years and generosity with the prize table! My legs still hurt. Thank you so much to Geissele not just for sponsoring but also for letting us use their absolutely incredible facility. This is a treat that we East Coasters don’t get too often. It was great meeting everyone I didn’t know already, and great to see old friends as well. This was the best event in a few years in my opinion. Setting the bar very high for an inaugural event. Man, what an event. There are so many people to thank for this event going as well as it did. First off, @dlm1984 for taking the reigns and being an excellent host. There’s a ton of stuff that goes on behind the scenes before an event, and he did great stuff. I gotta thank @sagmill and the rest of The Geissele crew for allowing us to use the land. What an excellent spot. @johnstoner for coordinating sponsor things and much assistance with just about every facet of Keystone. @brodozer and @multisdew and @Rugby3 and @twinfrost for busting their butts to keep us all well fed with amazing food. @whiskersthecat, @icrpdmeself ( ), @binary_operator, @Hill_monkey for running so many people so efficiently. Thanks to @rustedace for coming up with this whole crazy thing in the first place. Thanks to all the newbs that came out and got their first taste of Cola Warrior. Without new blood, CW can’t grow. To anyone I didn’t call out personally, you are not forgotten. It’s hard to associate faces and real names with screen names. Life can get crazy sometimes, and for me it’s great to go to these and catch up with some of the best people on the planet, and make some new friends along the way. I’m not mad at my 31st place finish, but this event has shown me that I need to work on cardio and my pistol shooting, among other things. I’m very happy with my chug and my rifle shooting. Some of the obstacles were deceptive in their difficulty. |

Bill basically took Cola to the next level. - silly course - open environment - more than generous with prizes - legit firearms engineers on site discussing everything - wind because this is how it is - hummers to drive if range needs to be cold You missed a fantastic firearms opportunity brother. I'm going to buy a Super Duty next and it isn't because of Cola. It is because Chris was there talking about 3 port gas systems and I love innovation. |

Thanks to Bill & Geissele, along with the evemt staff for a GREAT event. I absolutely had a blast and got to meet some great people. Got to eat some of the best food I had in a while so huge shout-out to Brodozer & his staff Also WOW, what a great range!!  I never shot past 300 before and when it was slow I was able to go and practice long range shooting. I was able to hit the 700 yard target 3 times within 15 rounds. Yes that probably isn't good but for my being a novice long range shooter I was very pleased with my Rifle and myself  I hope Bill will allow us to return next year because I plan on scoring higher!! |

With targets that big and the wind being like it was Wednesday and Thursday, the long rifle stage could be cleared with a 20 rd mag of good 5.56 match ammo and have rounds left over. I used a 20 rd mag and I had several rounds left. Friday...lol "Welcome to Bill's place!"
