| come on ,really? |
if anyone actually falls for that one your name will be stricken from the record of non-fools. |
Come on you know someone fell for it. |
I clicked it just because i like to rock out to rick astley |
PreBan fell for one in one of his threads about Rick Astlley.
|
zero tolernce policies mitigate my ability to be leniant here, your name has been added to the list. |
+10,000,000 btw: not for banning a person, just the practice of Rick Rollin. |
Yes, and you need to learn how to quote a post. I said "try" because I realize that it is GD. ETA: seems you figured out the quote process |
Then it wouldn't be rick-rolling™, would it? If any given internet link scares you so much, maybe you should just get off the internet. Remember the internet is serious business, and those who can't roll with the big dogs should carefully consider whether the risk is worth the reward. ![]()
Dude, WTF ![]() And here's a gay porn link for you to send someone. Click on it - I fuckin dare ya. |
Ok, I see your point. How about you just give a rick roll every time you post a link and see what kind of trust you gain from the people here. Maybe you don't give a rats ass, but I care what people here think about me to some extent. Now you can prove yourself to be some joker, but why? Why would you misdirect your comrades? I understand that a rick roll is just that, but what stops the idiocy from turning into a gay porn site or underage porn link. I think that it is something ment for 14 year olds. As a matter of fact I'm pretty sure that a 14 year old will think that it's imature. |
It's a self-limiting problem, really. Let's say I start posting rr links all over the place. Once I gained a reputation as a rick-roller, no one would click my links.
My reputation in my community has not been adversely affected by the few rick-rolls I've posted.
It's not like it's some big fuck over or anything. As you know, rr'ing got bad on the site a few months ago, and it has largely subsided - as predicted. Same for that asinine "87" garbage, which I thought was the lamest, most idiotic internet fad I've ever seen.
Doing so is against the Coc already, yes? Anyone on any given website could make a link to (or redirect the page to) illegal material - yes?
I think you are turning a molehill into a mountain. Besides, it's become a cliche of itself, which is what makes it amusing. "Crap, rick-rolled again!" The fact that you are railing against it so strenuously is going to make it even funnier, and people are going to try to rick roll you going forward. You see, the rick-roll itself isn't all that funny, but people who get fiendishly pissed off and start foaming at the mouth about it IS what's funny. Relax. Yes, it can be annoying, but this is Arfcom GD after all. In time it will all but disappear. Unless of course, people keep putting up threads complaining about it, which only serves to popularize it. |
Remember, the internet is like standing in line at the fucking bank. We all know who your are. You are not annomous. You are not in your fing car on the freeway, you are in line at the god damn grocery store and you should act like it . Don't think that you are and invisable soul. I'll buy you a beer if we ever meet. It's what normal people do. |
Agreed. I hope you realize I'm just being an asshole devil's advocate. -Pete (NOT a habitual rickroller) |
Right. And now the asshats are doing it in the technical forums. I guess because they are just asking for attention and since they get that attention that makes it all right. ![]() What the idiots do in GD is one thing. It's so full of crap that folks here use it as a exemplar of bad behaviour. Pissing in the tech forums is another thing entirely. Rick rolls are not funny. I hit the report button on all of them that I see outside of GD. I advocate a permaban on anybody who posts a rickroll in the tech forums. And I don't give a shit who knows that I'm the one that got their account locked because they couldn't follow the tech forum rules. |
