IIRC, its possible with a 7.62 barrel, impossible with at 5.45 (end of rod is too big to fit in the bore). You can see he kind of throws it down the barrel and the momentum smacks the case out. |

It sticks out a few extra feet, but it clears cases perfectly.

Unfortunately for everyone.... It was in 1978. That poor, crazy sonofabitch.

Unpossible. AK's don't jam. You can fill them up with mud and rocks and they still fire. GI's in Vietnam threw their M16's made by Mattel away and picked up VC AK's because they are so reliable. They shot 5.56 ammo through them because they are designed to shoot 7.62 x 39 and 5.56. AK's are the best gun ever!

You'll sometimes see A1 hand-guards with a hole drilled in the back of the right hand-guard half. This allows an assembled (or one piece) GI cleaning rod to be inserted between the heat shield and hand-guard body, and then usually taped down to the stock with a bit of OD green tape. |
