I’m sure 4 total is a drop in the bucket for the total number in that PD but you’d think maybe just 1 would say “maybe you should get off his neck”.  Not one of them said that.  That were all complicit in murder.

For 3's four guys getting fired is definitely not a drop in the bucket. That is potentially 3 cars worth when they can't afford to lose even one guy.

It has the largest swath of Minneapolis by a large margin and a large majority of the worst possible areas. They've been severely undermanned for years and now were asking for 600 new officers department wide but the city clowncil and bag of dicks mayor gave them 4.

The 3rd has had a lot of problems chief of which was epic mismanagement because liberals. Some of the shit I dealt with was why I went to HCSD and voluntarily went from patrol to jail for a year before going to warrants.

Lately the city clowncil made it so that the police can no longer hassle the growing groups of shitbags out selling or just being shitbags in the city and that has resulted in crime going through the roof. Peavey park is an absolute open air drug/prostitution market and shooting there occur almost every night.

Those guys in 3's have the world on their shoulders and all of it is shitting on them. I am not surprised this or worse has happened.

It isn't murder 1. Murder 1 implies he planned it in advance. Like he was driving around saying, "Imma kneel on that motherfucker's neck" long in advance.

Murder 3 maybe. Manslaughter definitely.

That officer in the video, he is either a psychopath, or has had some kind of transformation over the years into a cold blooded son of a bitch.  I suspect He should have been pulled out of the job long before this happened, and there should have been a process to evaluate him before this happened.

You're right, but what I don't understand about the vid is the LEO had neither an air choke (the guy kept talking/struggling) nor a blood choke (the guy didn't pass out, at least not until the end, which ended the struggle by definition) so what happened to the guy?

Obviously there are going to be two sides to this event; two people watching the same vid can come to completely different conclusions...but the age old axiom "don't invite the man into your life" still applies.

While "discussing" this today I made the observation that a) we don't know what happened prior to the video beginning and b) I have never been involved in a fight/struggle/physical altercation with a LEO...that goes a long way toward avoiding these types of things...just sayin'.

LOL, the government employee medical examiner is going to say whatever the government tells them to say to ease tensions, but at this point its too little too late.

Bingo. The "killers" don't get off scot-free. Street justice is alive and real and more often than not a lot more effective and punctual than our actual broken justice system.

This came out today from the Star Tribune:
https://www.startribune.com/what-we-know-about-derek-chauvin-and-tou-thao-two-of-the-officers-caught-on-tape-in-the-death-of-george-floyd/570777632/

Chauvin, 44, is a 19-year department veteran. Department records and news accounts show that he has been involved in several police-involved shootings over his career.

In 2008, Chauvin shot and wounded Ira Latrell Toles during a domestic assault call. According to a 2011 article from the Pioneer Press, Chauvin and other officers showed up to an apartment in south Minneapolis just before 2 a.m. Toles grabbed for an officer’s gun and Chauvin shot him in the abdomen.

In 2006, Chauvin and five others responded to a stabbing. After Wayne Reyes, 42, allegedly pulled a shotgun on the officers, one of the officers shot and killed Reyes, according to a report titled “Stolen Lives” from Communities United Against Police Brutality, a police watchdog nonprofit based in Minneapolis.

The other officer identified in the video is Tou Thao. According to a deposition he gave in a 2017 lawsuit, Thao started with the department as a community service officer. He went through the academy in 2009. He was laid off for two years and returned to the department in 2012.
In 2017, Lamar Ferguson sued Thao and another officer, Robert Thunder, for excessive use of force. According to the lawsuit, Ferguson and a woman who was eight months pregnant were walking home when Thao and Thunder stopped and searched them without cause. The officers handcuffed Ferguson, and Thao threw him to the ground and began punching him, while Thunder kicked him, according to the allegations.

The officers took Ferguson to the hospital for medical treatment. Afterward, they escorted Ferguson to jail wearing only his underwear and T-shirt, rejecting hospital staff’s requests that he be allowed to fully dress, according to the complaint.

In a deposition, Thao said they arrested Ferguson due to an outstanding arrest warrant. He said he only punched Ferguson after one of Ferguson’s hands slipped out of the handcuffs.

“He tries to pull away,” Thao said in the deposition. “And he puts his hands on me and tries to give me a stiff arm in a way to try to get me off of him. After — at this point he’s actively resisting arrest. He — so I had no choice but to punch him. I punched him in the face. It causes him to pause a bit which gives Officer Thunder the time to come around and help.”

The case settled out of court for $25,000, according to Seth Leventhal, one of Ferguson’s attorneys.

Even if he died of say, a heart attack and had cocaine I'm his system, the prolonged knee to the back of the neck was certainly a contributing factor.

The level of force used was objectively unreasonable. The guy with his knee on the neck isn't even doing anything with his hands. What were they trying to accomplish?  I have to assume the guy was cuffed.  If he is still being an asshole, throw him in the back of a car, problem solved.
