The odor from the dead bird reeked to high heaven. That concludes our vocabulary lesson for the day. Sorry - it's the English major in me coming to the surface. A package of hamburger had fallen down in the spare tire well of a new late 80's Blazer, or Suburban (IIRC). I found it within seconds, and went to get the customer to remove it. I also asked that they remove the spare tire, clean out the well, and clean the spare tire. They tossed the fabric cover that was on the spare in our dumpster. A little bleach got the smell out enough for me to do my install. Too bad. I am sure that smell was in that truck for a long time. |

Buried on page 305 of the House bill released late last Friday night (included after the bailout details for states and localities), is a new Treasury Department fund called the “Emergency Federal Employee Leave Fund.” $570 million in the new fund is available through September 30. Federal employees caring for others due to Covid-19 are eligible for paid leave. Among those eligible are those who are “unable to work” because they are caring for school-aged children not physically in school full time “due to Covid-19 precautions[.]” The new Fund allows a federal employee “caring for a son or daughter” to qualify for the paid leave, specifically: “if the school or place of care of the son or daughter has been closed, if the school of such son or daughter requires or makes optional a virtual learning instruction model or requires or makes optional a hybrid of in-person and virtual learning instruction models, or the child care provider of such son or daughter is unavailable, due to Covid-19 precautions;” Under the bill as currently drafted, full-time federal employees can take up to 600 hours in paid leave until September 30, up to $35 an hour and $1,400 a week. That’s 15 weeks for a 40-hour employee. Part-time and “seasonal” employees are eligible, too, with equivalent hours established by their agency. |

The band sure won't sound as good next year. The thing that really chaps my behind about this, is we are dealing with a virus with a 99.5-99.7% advertised survival rate. It is likely much higher than that. My skepticism has me convinced that the testing protocol picks up various other Corona virii....not just SARS_COV2. We are seeing a survival rate that includes various other diseases. I suspect the actual Covid survival and recovery rate is much higher than a bad flu year. I've spent my entire nursing career setting up triage tents in the parking lots, isolating flu patients where possible, converting physical therapy/surgical waiting rooms/respiratory therapy overflow rooms/ and even hallway beds into flu beds. Yet, none of this has invoked this mask wearing, shutdown, control all things endeavors like their COVID supposedly caused by SARS_COV2 has. Why no mandatory flu shot push and mandatory masks? If you (the royal you) are more frightened by this, than TB, bad flu years or other diseases, you are a fucking hypocrite who is only after political control and power. I had enough a long time ago and refuse to mask or take the vaccine. If I die, I'll just die. After all, I MAY already be dead from nuclear fallout, predicted ice ages, acid rain, ozone loss, green house gases and climate change BUT I just haven't realized it yet. |

Update about my mother and her colon cancer.
PET scan indicated the main tumor to actually be smaller than initial estimates. Original size was 5 to 6 centimeters, so 2 inches or more. New scan puts tumor size to 4.1 by 4.3 cm. Lymph nodes right next to main tumor have cancer, largest lymph node 3.5 by 2 cm. Cancer no where else in body, but surgeon was concerned about working in area without having problems down the road. So we are going for chemo for 2 months, then another scan to see results and then hopefully surgery by May. They ran a check to see if immunotherapy might work, but the chance of that was 4%, but chemo was estimated at 70% chance of being effective. So I guess I'm in for this journey with mom. Whatever you guys are doing keep doing it, the tumor shrunk a centimeter in just 3 weeks. |
