is it only me but whenever I hear about someone having 4,5,6 or more roommates I think it is weird...
is having a large amount of roommates outside of a sorority or fraternity weird... |

I rent a small house...when I did have roommates we still lived in only a medium sized house... but two rooms for 8 people is a touch much... even when I just made minimum wage and was married I was able to make a car payment and rent an apartment.. without food stamps or welfare or section 8....

eh im almost 30 and i rent out my spare room to a buddy of mine whos a fireman and gone every 3rd day. works out well for both of us.
i dont think renting out your spare room at any age is weird but ive lived in a frat house before and that lifestyle is stressful on all involved |

Or outside of the military. Technically I once had 100+ roommates, although thankfully the limit per cubicle was 6 - two triple bunks. |

I'm clearly not broke, but had a roomie for a while as I had two extra bedrooms and it was nice to have someone to watch my dog when my hours got crazy at work. The extra money was nice, the dog didn't crap on the carpet and I got more shit done at work. Overall a win win win. Not all situations are for a lack of money, sometimes there's other reasons/benefits driving the decisions that are made. |

From 18-20 I lived with 5 other guys. We had a 5 bedroom house that had 2 living rooms. So we gave up a living room for another person to stay. We had a fucking blast. A lot of tail came through those doors.
Love where I am at now but boy to I miss those days sometimes....There are nights I don't remember much, but what I do remember, we had fun.... |

One of the "perfect" times in my life was moving out of my house at 16 and into a huge house with 9 close friends.
I was dating 1 of them the other 8 were actually 4 couples. We all had different work/school schedules so there were seldom more than 3 or 4 us home at a time. At any one time 2 or 3 of us worked the same place on the same shift so we had plenty of transportation flexibility. We had no TV, we had no money but, damn, it was FUN. All of us had a large circle of blended mutual friends so the house had a shit-ton of traffic all the time. Parties every other night. BIG parties on weekends. Had a cop 3 doors down who would come party with us, she had the best dope. Actually delivered beer to one of our parties in her squad car, with lights and back up (2 other cars). Talk about a bunch of kids shitting themselves until we figured it out. They all hung out for an hour then left .... odd, really. It was really cool, for a couple of years. Eventually, all good things must fade. |

I wouldnt be able to safely keep either in an apartment, and I cant afford a house. The downside is a couple old men live here too, one chronically sick. Nothing more annoying than hearing an old man hacking phlegm all the time |

Lived in a townhouse with 2 other guys for a couple of years then a house with 2 different guys for 3 more. Very cheap. That enabled me to save up the 20% down payment for my house and to buy my Chevy 3500 work truck brand new for cash. Now I rent out the master bedroom in my house to a guy I have known since high school. That has paid for the new roof, a jet ski, and eventually a new furnace/AC unit once this one goes. I put the rent check aside every month so I don't get temped to spend it or get used to the extra money. If the right lady comes along, move his ass out and then she can pay rent
