| Besides the smell of my burning tooth and that high pitch tool, the only good part is the pain meds. |
| I had one done a few years ago, about 7 months later had more problems and ended up having the tooth pulled. I wanted it pulled to begin with but they said no we can save it with a root canal and crown....I could have saved a few $$$ the first time around if I would have had it pulled... |

I've had three in the last 2 years. My endidontist told me "I've never seen deeper nerve roots than yours, I have a special set of files for that deep I've never used!".
I was like, oh, awesome does that mean I get a special rate or a smiley sticker? No, what I did get was mind-numbing post-operation pain that felt like a mule kicked my jaw....awful. Took some opiates to take the sting off that shit. Lucky me. |

I've never had a root canal, but I have an implant. That involved a lot of surgery and drugs. How much chair time? Should be no more than an hour of chair time. In the mouth no more than 20-30 min if the doc knows his shit. |

You do have to pick your battles. But this is true for any procedure. I went into periodontics (gum gardening -- for scientific reasons), but if I had been a clinical dentist, and wanted to specialize, I would have chosen endodontics. The morbidity of periodontics was too much, although you could feel proud about saving teeth and restoring gingival health. |

I looked at his office staff like they were insane. Good dentist and I do not fault him for the loss of the tooth but my insurance will not cover that amount of money.... |

I had one done a few months ago on a lateral incisor and it didn't hurt because the root was completely dead. I had zero pain before, during and after, it was surreal. I thought for sure I was gonna cry like a little girl.
It was a chipped tooth from when I was a kid, took 30 years to finally die. |
