Don't do it. In Texas (at least Duncanville) first offense is up to $1000 fine.  Second offense is a felony.

BTW, they are adding school bus stop sign cameras to the busses.

Also, all lanes in both directions must stop.

Forget the fine.

Don't do it because you might kill some little kid excited to be heading to school or to get home from school that runs out in front of you.

Although this might start a sh*tstorm, I would agree.

My wife is a crossing guard; she's almost been hit twice by idiots who ignore her stop sign.

In Ohio, I know that on a four lane road, oncoming traffic does not have to stop, just the two lanes on the side of the bus has to stop

State law requires approaching drivers to stop when a school bus is stopped and operating a visual signal (red flashing lights or a stop sign). Drivers should not proceed until the school bus resumes motion; the driver is signaled by the bus driver to proceed; or the visual signal is no longer activated. A driver does not have to stop for a school bus if it is on a highway with roadways separated by an intervening space or physical barrier. (If a highway is divided only by a left-turning lane, the roadways are not separated, and drivers must stop for school buses.)

Wrong, yes.

Endangers children IF NOT A CURB DROP OFF. (They cross the street.)

Worthy of a big fine. Totally!

BUT a felony is a bit much!

There was an article here once where a lady passed 16 stopped school busses and the cops wrote her a $16,000 ticket

Had a car run the school bus stop sign in front of my house out here in the country about 2 weeks ago.  Just blew right by.

It has gotten so bad out here that the buses will only drop kids off curbside.  That means they pass right by the kids house on the way to dropping the kids off who live curbside, then turn around and drop the rest off, retracing their route back to town.

I feel for those poor kids.

I hadn't really thought of this before, but shouldn't something that is bad enough to be a felony, be bad enough the first time someone does it?

Ummm it looks to me like it is a felony only if the person has a
previous violation that resulted in injury

In VA (as well as most places I would guess), a divided highway/roadway negates having to stop

Do it on a Federal Installation (AF that I know of) and you are at min losing your Lic for a year (on base) and some bad paperwork from the Man. Hell its already 15 mph in the housing areas. Which it should be. Too many kids out and about not paying attention. I don't mind the slow speed. My kids are out and about not paying attention too. They are being kids. Its my job to watch out for them.

Having 3 girls which 2 take the bus, Yes, I believe the worse the better.

I'm all for stiff fines for it, but I think a second offense felony is a bit much.
