Been hearing good things about Asics. What say you? Wanting to get a good pair broken in before BCT.

I love my New Balance shoes. Try to find one of their stores and they'll help you find the right kind of shoe for what you're planning on doing.

It might also be worth taking a trip to a podiatrist or a sports medicine clinic to get some orthotic inserts if you've got high arches like I do.

Saucony's. Cheap and felt just as good as past New Balance's.

Brooks. If you have low arches go with the beast.

Loki, you're going Army right???  From what I've been told we're going to have to buy new ones when we get there anyways

Do not buy based on brand.

Buy what fits your feet.

You may be an overpronator, underpronator, or (unlikely) neutral.

You may require additional support due to a heavier frame, or other modifications based on your gait.

Go to a running store (NOT a big box store) and get qualified help.

Army yes. Best friend was Army MP and he said he got his before going, and recruiter confirmed it.

For YEARS, I only wore Nike's.  Then, they changed.  They no longer fit my foot.  Switched to New Balance.  Wore those for years.  Then started to notice they were getting tight.

I ended up going to a RUNNING STORE.  Were there was someone who actually took time to fit me.  VERY few places do that anymore.  They put me on a treadmill, made me walk, video'd it.

I tried on several different shoes, and tried a "FOOTBED" (Superfeet) in a few of the shoes.

In the end, I went UP one size, but down a width, and ended up in a Brooks Running shoe, with the footbed.

Very happy with the service, and it wasn't anymore than buying that same shoe off of the internet.

I HIGHLY recommend finding a shop that will FIT YOU, vs going to anywhere else where they just throw boxes of shoes at you, and let YOU figure it out.

Good Luck!

I'm partial to Sauconys.  However I had good luck with Asics for a few years as well.

hmm...interesting.  Might be based on BCT locations or the DS then.  My buddy had new shoes when he went and had to buy a pair at the PX when he arrived at Knox.
