| A few years ago when I was driving through Colorado and Utah I noticed that most of the older cars on the road had little if any rust on them. Here in upstate NY, most older cars are rusted to hell from road salt. Do they not use road salt in the Rocky Mountain states during the Winter? |

Quoted: Drive around in ND you often see cars 30+ years old with very little rust, then drive in MN cars 30 years are rusted out, and most are not on the road any more. ND used sand, MN uses salt/sand mix. Yep It is amazing to see the difference in even the color of the roadway when driving into ND. |
| Colorado(CDOT) has used mag chloride for several years now and you do need to keep up on it by flushing the under carriage with fresh water after each snow fall. I hate the shit and wish they would stop using it and go back to more sand. It eats up our semis and we have to replace wiring after every winter because of the mag chloride. |
