Thinking of buying a pair of these:

http://www.blade-empire.com/SAP_Gloves.shtml

I cannot get a CCW in my state. In addition, I live in an urban area and use public transportation exclusively, so any pocket knives, pepper spray, etc. that I carry only lasts so long before it is confiscated or I have to throw it away somewhere. These would be low key, easy to transport, and fast to utilize.

What do you guys think? Are they any good?

bad idea I'd say

if you want to go that route, just get brass knuckles, same principle as "steel shot in the knuckles" of those gloves

Hitting a guy with brass knuckles will stop him in his tracks, ask me how I know

I used to work with a guy that had a pair....unless you have them on already before you head into a fight, not much good. A naredowell with the intention of doing you harm will have completed his task long before you get the chance to get those gloves out.

A roll of quarters in those annonying plastic wraps work wonders and there is no law against carrying change.

I have a pair somewhere. I could hit a brick wall with those and barely feel it. More subtle than brass knuckles(illegal in my state anyway.) I guess they could be useful if you walk around a lot outside in cooler weather.

I do.  My current gloves are big bulky ski gloves so I figured there wouldn't be much observable difference.
