| Would you go to SERE if it was optional and offered to you? I've got to pick a school for when we get back from this mobilization and SERE is one of the schools on the list (San Diego location). |
IK went in 02 up in Maine and it was the best and worse training I ever went through, do it and you will have no regrets, pass and you'll always wish you had gone. Its a badge of honor and I'm proud that I went through even to this day. plan on losing at least 10 lbs. of body weight maybe more. Hope you like rabbit

I attended the one in Coronado.
It was fun.....
If it is like it used to be, make sure you "bow" when you are supposed to. I was punched in the chest so hard I thought I was never going to breath again. ended up in the 55 gallon barrel of water - that was awesome, but not as fun as the waterboarding . I was teamed up witha SLAPD**K NAvy Pilot who did not want to listen to me and almost got use caught within 2 hours. Tahnk god we lasted a while. Sittingin those little boxes listening to screaming babys and Ali Babs at the top of his lungs really chapped my butt. DO IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

We're foot-slog-slog-slog-sloggin' over Africa -
Foot-foot-foot-foot-sloggin' over Africa - (Boots-boots-boots-boots-movin' up an' down again!) There's no discharge in the war! Seven-six-eleven-five-nine-an'-twenty mile to-day - Four-eleven-seventeen-thirty-two the day before - (Boots-boots-boots-boots-movin' up an' down again!) There's no discharge in the war! Don't-don't-don't-don't-look at what's in front of you. (Boots-boots-boots-boots-movin' up an' down again) Men-men-men-men-men go mad with watchin' em, An' there's no discharge in the war! Try-try-try-try-to think o' something different - Oh-my-God-keep-me from goin' lunatic! (Boots-boots-boots-boots-movin' up an' down again!) There's no discharge in the war! |

I would love to go to SERE after the rest of my training. But I don't think they send Ranger's to that sort of deal, mostly the 18's from my understanding. All pilots also have to go. In some brigades, if you are soldier of the year, you can pick a school to go to...better start studying. |

| I can certainly think of more beneficial courses to go to. If you want to be that guy hanging out at the Legion or VFW talking about when you went to SERE 35 years ago, then go for it. If you want to get some training that you may actually benefit from, there are other options. SERE is great if you think there is an actual threat of you becoming a POW. If not, what about SAMI? GM Reservist.....might be worth it. Obviously you are into some form of shooting, as this is AR15.com......And you might actually get some skills that are more likely to be utilized. And there used to be a SAMI COI offered at NASNI. Not sure if it is still there or not. |
