I just finished reading Cormac Maccarthy's "The Road"; and it got me re-thinking my SHTF/TEOTWAWKI strategies.

First... if you have not read this book, I recommend it.  It gives you a very personal perspective on an extend post-apocalyptic survival scenario.

I've always kept food/water, basic survival and medical gear handy; just in case... but my kit has always revolved around firearms and ammo.  I've since realized that when S really, REALLY HTF, weapons while important, are just a small component of an adequate kit.  I am now reorganizing/reprioritizing.

I'm planning an off the grid survival/SHTF kit for the house, which can be quickly broken down into mobile kits for vehicular and dismounted applications.  So tell me... what do you have/plan to have in your kit?  In your opinion, how long should one be able to go without resupply... and when you do, then what?  What things are must haves?  Nice to haves?

I think ShaneS said it best "Survival is not a kit".

As the above poster said, head to the SF for info.
