you know, I've got a huge flock of turkeys in the woods out back and coincidentally, an old box spring that could head to the burn pile back there.

Thanks for the idea OP!

Just glue a few kernels onto the pan of a 1 and a half leg trap. Scatter some more corn around the trap. Wait for turkeys to move through. Check often so the yotes don't take your prize.

I've witnessed this different kind of trap and its effectiveness. Ok, your driving down a Farm2Market or county road. You see a flock of turkey crossing the road and or moving along the fence of the road. You pull up on them, stop the vehicle quickly as close to the flock as possible (its better if there are at least two of you attacking), get out and rush the turkeys. The idea is to get them to panic (not difficult, their not the most intelligent birds) and the ones nearest the fence don't have the sense to backup and fly, therefore their trying to find a way thru the fence and you catch them by the neck and then break same. I assisted in this once successfully, been a part when its failed more than once. But it is a hoot when it succeeds!! YMMV
