Holy shit...

Judge should be put in jail.

Thats bullshit.

A fellow might take that sort of thing personally.

I am trying to figure out what smart ass comment the kid makes just before he starts saying " I am under Duress" or some shit..

He should have sat the fuck down.

Ridiculous. It looks like the one office was already walking towards him even before the judge asks to detain him.

The judge was out of line there. Glad to see they have been removed.

I would like to know as well.

The judge told him more than once to have a seat.  He stood there in direct defiance of the judge's command.  He deserved every bit of the sentence he got.  You don't openly defy a judge's authority, IN HIS COURTROOM, WITHOUT going to jail for contempt.

What a moron.

[#12]
This incident just happened within the last week.....the judge has NOT been removed.
11/17/2008 5:05:56 PM EDT
[#13]
That's one asshole of a judge. There's no reason for him to be abusive like that.
11/17/2008 5:06:32 PM EDT
[#14]
It looks to me that he was starting to sit then the judge said his name so he remained standing to speak. Then when the judge freaks out he is a bit confused as to what was going on. I could be wrong and I probably am.

Didn't the judge say his name? If so aren't you supposed to stand up. Yeah the guy could have moved faster but it looks like the man that cuffed him was already making his move before there was any problems.

It's pretty clear that he begins to sit and then stands when his name is called.  Then the judge starts screaming.  Hopefully the judge will lose his job shortly.

The judge says "Have a seat", Ian starts to sit, then the judge calls his name, Ian stands up straight and starts to answer "I am Ian" then the judge starts acting like a fuckwit. I'm glad he was debarred, hope all of the defendants charges were dropped.

Edit: I see that the guy had to serve 90 days in jail, the judge should get double in general population for that.

He was sitting down, but the judge called his name, so he stood back up, and then he yelled at him to sit down, and arrested him right then before he even had a reasonable time to comply.

with out the whole story i cant make a decision it could be another don't taze me bro situation where the kid was being a jackass the "I'll be doing that under duress" probably what got him in trouble.

just like mouthing off to a cop some people are just dumb.

"Ian Freeman from nationally syndicated radio show Free Talk Live has been arrested while in court over a couch and jailed for 93 days. This is live, raw footage"

reinforces the hes a smart mouthed douchebag

I meant removed from the bench, sorry. I also just noticed the Ron Paul thing at the end, which drastically reduced the video's affect on my care-o-meter.

There's no excuse for a judge to display such a lack of professionalism.

Thats unexcusable... even if that judge dealt with asses all day long...

Was the judge even looking at the defendant when he was speaking? He should have been able to see the guy was complying and then stood up when his name was called.

That video makes it easy to understand why a lot of people think judges, cops, etc are on power trips.

There may be prior history that we do not know about. But that exact seqeunce of events is FUBAR and uncalled for.

For the people that think that was an acceptable mode of operating... not everyone spends their days in court. So any minor confusion (ie sitting a little late or standing up when your name is called) should be overlooked.

edit- now if the guy was flippant the entire time, then yes slam em down. But what the kid did doesnt equal disrespect to me.

Whoops, just checked the video again and saw that a previous female judge had been removed from the bench for a similar outburst. I guess reading comprehension really is fundamental.

Unprofessional.

Kinda looks like the judge was looking for an excuse to throw the guy in the house of many bars.

Must be a history.

The guy in the video defied a direct order to be seated.  He made no attempt to appologize for his delay.  He came to court without a tie on and did not tuck in his shirt.  Of course the Judge might have been a little hastey but the Defendant should have done more to comply quickly.  Plus it would be more than useful if we could heard what he said right before the duress BS.

Fuck that asshole judge, ,he deserves no respect.
He has a great deal of power on that bench but he can't sit there forever.

A friend of mine got into it with a judge in court, the town judge threw him in jail for 30 days for contempt.
After he got out he was hanging in  a bar the judge went to also, he asked the judges wife to dance (slow dance) while the judge was in the bathroom.
The wife says OK not knowing he has history with the judge.
The judge comes out of the bathroom and sees my buddy grinding with his wife.
He freaks out and pulls them apart and smacks my buddy opened handed across the face.
My buddy cleaned his clock to the tune of a fractured jaw , knocked out one of his front teeth and blackened both eyes.

When the local cops show up they beat my buddy with knight sticks for about 30 seconds before they cuff him him up.

Not only did he beat the A&B charge he won 175 K for false arrest and the beating he took which the whole event was captured on the Bars CC security cameras.
The judge resigned 2 weeks later "for health reasons"

One cop was fired the other they let resign.

"Are you making and offer. I'm sitting under duress"You can tell just from those comments that he's a fuckwit.  I am betting he has been an asshole every time he has been in there and the judge finally had enough of his weird chip on his shoulder bullshit.

Nothing, the guy was being contemptuous. He didn't just sit down slowly, he refused to sit down and said "Are you making an offer? I am under duress" 20 seconds of video and a bunch of crap some ron paulbot put over the video doesn't prove anything. I bet if this guy was your neighbor you'd be threatening to pound his ass by dinner time

+1.  I watched the first fifteen seconds, the kid was told to have a seat, and he never sat down.  Whatever power trip he was on, the judge was in his right to end it.

I oppose the JBT government power as much as the next guy, but you don't walk in to a courtroom and treat a judge like shit just for fun; doing so undermines the authority of the entire legal system.  It's not a kindergarten, and you're not there to be Mr. Cool.

The fuckers refuse to stand for the judge purposefully, they all deserve some serious jail time. There is video after video of these jerks arguing like fucking 12 year olds over stupid shit. Stupid people tricks end up poorly for stupid people. Maybe the little shit should have taken the couch off his porch as he was required to do by the town oridnance. 1. I have a REALLY good feeling there is way more to this than the video shows. That judge had a short fuse when this video started rolling, and I think the defendant had something to do with it. My guess? This ain't the defendant's first appearance. My other guess? He has a habit of doing and saying really, really dumb things because (surprise, surprise) he doesn't "need" a lawyer.

2. For the love of God, can some of you libertarians PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stop making other libertarians like me look bad? For fuck's sake already, that whole thing (and the bit at the end) is God damn embarassing. Fuck.

And I don't need a punk ass nitwit saying "I'm under duress. I'm under duress" like a fuckoff, and claiming to represent libertarianism on the radio. And where the fuck was his attorney? This dumbass was in a courtroom all on his own? Christ almighty.
