Looking at safes and found one I like. Company wants $600.00 to deliver the safe.  1 1/2 hour drive one way and set safe in first floor room. Two steps to get onto concrete porch and one step into the house.

I think this is kind of steep. What have you paid??

$200, down the stairs into the basement

Sounds steep.  I'd venture a guess that they don't want to be in the delivery business, and so if they are going to do it, they are going to make it well worth their time.

$200. 3 stairs.

Liberty quoted me $120 for a 160 mile round trip IIRC.

I rented a uhaul trail. Tractor supply loaded it on the trailer.

Paid local safe company $300 to move it from the garage to basement.

Up 6 steps, down a whole flight.  They used an electic stair climer.  45 minutes

$150 to go down a flight of stairs.  Took them 30 minutes

$200 down stairs.

Mine was free but the guy told me he would charge $1k to put it into the basement. Up 5 stairs into house. Down 10 steps into basement. Took 4 guys and a power hand truck that could lift 1100bs

I have Liberty that cost 200 for delivery and another 100 bucks to bolt it to the floor.

I tipped the installation guys 25 bucks each (50 total).

1 trailer

3 friends to unload to the ground

And 6 broom handles cut in half.

Four hour trip, no stairs. 1700 lb safe. $400...in 1998.

Yeah.  They'll give you the service because they sold the safe, but it isn't on their normal price sheet.

Got mine from

shipping was free. But that was just to the house only.

I think mine was $300 for about 70 miles round trip up 2 stairs and into the back of the house.

I bought six of my buddies a six pack each for the first one.

I've been shopping for another and quotes have been in the $150 range.

It was either $200 or $250, around 25 miles, 1st floor, no steps.  Inside delivery and bolt down.  Safe weighs ~1800lbs empty,  I didn't want to mess with bringing it inside.

My brother tried to hire one of those companies for the same price.    They said they could do it, showed up, then said they could not.    They said his stairway was too steep and the landing was not big enough.

He borrowed a 30 ton crane.

292$

1 hour transit, 30 minute on site. 1500 lb safe, 2 man job.

Got it up a steep driveway, into the garage, and off the pallet.

Was 104 degrees (not even CLOSE to normal) out so I tipped the guys. They were quick even while sweating like crazy. Probably saved me 100$ by not slowing down from the abnormal weather.

A local shop will deliver them free within like 30 miles of there store if you buy it from them needless to say, I think they want $50 for 2nd floor or basement placement.

$100 + 12 pack + $50 bonus

700# safe up onto porch into house, down in the basement, locate in my designated spot
not a scratch on the walls.

I bought safe from a local farmer who sells liberty safes as a side business.
He keeps inventory in a climate controlled garage/warehouse

He delivers with the help of his son and a friend

They said all they wanted for delivery was enough to cover gas and a dinner.

ALTERNATIVES I HAD

Local box store would drop it at your driveway for $50
Locksmith charged $400 - he said because of liability.
A FFL that I used has a standing account with Liberty to deliver safes from KC to my town.
However, they deliver when he has a truck load order.
So it would have been a minimum of 60 days to wait.
The delivery was free but only dropped safe at driveway.

Ive moved mine up and down flights of stairs myself quite easily.

3 guys and an appliance dolly with the stair tracks on the back. Two guys pull one guy pushes. One stair at a time. Easy.

$250 to deliver 1300lb safe 10 miles one way, unload outside, move up 2 steps to get inside, position it exactly where I wanted it, hook up interior lighting system & dri-rod and bolt it down to the floor.

All without even a tiny scratch/mark on my hardwood floors and/or me breaking a sweat.

WORTH. EVERY. FUCKING. PENNY.

I paid $405 to have my 1250 pound Amsec BF delivered.
However the company that did the job wanted close to $600 more for the safe so I bought it from another dealer who had a 1000 pound weight limit max to move.
So I paid the other guys a premium to drive about 50 miles to pick it up and another 15 miles to bring it to my home.
And they bolted it down too.
Had I bought the safe from the dealer that installed it they would have charged me $225 but again they wanted $600 more for the safe.

I was amazed at how easy the two guys that moved mine made it look.
I would not move that heavy bastard on a bet.

2 men and a truck,  no extra charge for stairs.

EDIT:  Costco delivered it to my curb for free using a lift gate.  I borrowed a pallet jack from work to get it into the garage and used PVC pipe to roll it the rest of the way.

I've moved my 800 lb Rhino 3 times with only another woman to help.  PVC pipes to roll it into and out of position.  Good 2 wheeler to wheel it around.  The last time my neighbor loaned me a 2 wheeler that looked like this.  Made it really easy.

Free delivery with the purchase of the safe.  $50 to move it to the second floor plus $25 tip for the 2 guys.  650lb LIberty.   $600 is robbery.

I paid $125 to move 2 safes 10 miles and install them and bolt them to the floor.  The closet they went into was tiny and the guys did it without a scratch.

They're probably charging you mainly for the drive time.  Their guys are going to lose half a day just driving plus fuel.  It's a little steep.

If the location isn't that bad have it drop shipped and buy some beer for a few friends..

Mine were free with purchase. But, the one fucker weighs 1368 lbs empty, so if I ever move I'm probably going to pay through the nose to get it moved.

Three hours of driving time, plus fuel, plus lugging it in and installing for $600? Probably will need a crew of two. I don't know that that figure is that outrageous.
