As we seem to have quite a few cooks on this board I'd like to share a salt with those that haven't heard of it. I was out west in Utah on business and stopped at a Mexican restaurant and they had these on the tables and it was amazing, I went next door to the supermarket and purchased a half dozen bottles and have since mail ordered a ton to use and share. Its mined out of the ground from ancient sea beds in Utah and not bleached or fucked with, it tastes sweet and not bitter like many.

for a real change of taste use Kosher Salt, or Sea Salt.

Well it is sea salt, just from sea water that evaporated a million years ago and has been untouched by pollution. And as far as Kosher salt the only one worth considering is Diamond Crystal, Morton Kosher salt tastes like battery acid.

Laboratory ultra pure sodium chloride tastes exactly like Morton non-iodized salt.

It is not "bleached".  It is refined and purified.

The flavor you notice in your salt is not the salt.  It is all of the impurities.

But I agree, raw natural salt can have fantastic flavor.  Just like certain well water can taste great, or shitty.

Ah yes, "special" salt.

My sister in-law, who is a vegan is into this stuff.  Pretty much everything she eats has to be "special" or have some sort of bleeding-heart attribute over what everyone else eats.  She has several varieties of "Artisinal Salt"  Yes, Artisinal salt.

Yet she still makes mention of how much salt processed foods has in it  Special artisinal salt = ok.  Evil corporate sodium = bad.

I make fun of it, but I do use sea-salt often in cooking.

You need to search around on Google. They have imported rare salts that can go for a TON of money per Oz or gram. Shit was more expensive than weed.
