The INS site has an online quiz to help you prepare: INS Quiz Or you can download 100 sample questions and answers: 100 sample questions One of the INS documents which annoys me intensely is the explanation of the constitution. It says the following regarding the second amendment:
This is actually better than it was during the Clinton years, because then rather than the phrase "subject to certain regulations" it said "requires a special permit". I complained to the NRA and suggested that they do something to get that changed, since a "right" should never require a "permit" to excersize it. Looks like they managed to get it changed, but I still insist that the wording of the 2nd actually excludes any regulation, and so this is still incorrect. History Guide ---- added ---- For any budding US citizens out there, you really need to learn the answers provided. Some of the questions actually have several potential answers, but some of the INS droids want only the one that appears on their computer screen, phrased in the same way that it appears on their computer screen. My wife actually "failed" her first test because she gave an answer which although correct, was not the one they wanted. Apparently the US values parots over people with genuine understanding.... |
Yeah for me - I got 10/11 - do I get to buy garands from the CMP now? I was guessing on the number of amendments, and said 23 However, for a damn foreigner, who has never taken a class on American civics, history, government or anything else, I'd say that's pretty good. |
10/11 got the same one wrong as you did. |

actually there is one more amendmant which the fed gov refuses to admit was ratified. It was the original 13 amendmant, ratified in 1819. However, it was purged from most state copies of the constitution after the civil war. It would've prevented anyone with a title or emolument from running for office. |
Put down the crack pipe. The "Missing" 13th Amendment, like the alleged failure to properly ratify the 16th Amendment, has no support among reputable constitutional scholars. It is a theory published by crackpots, David Dodge being the foremost among them. |

I always thought this would make a great book or movie. Give the citizenship test to 1000 high school students weeks before graduation. After the students take the test, make the results public in the school. Those that fail would be told that they would not become citizens if they had been born elsewhere. You would interview them to get their reactions and review their answers. You would then interview their history or civics teachers to find out why they failed. Then you would interview people who have come to this country from horrible circumstances and why they wanted to become Americans. You would then compare/contrast this with the students who have had an easy life. See where this is going................ I think it would be an excellent movie/documentary. |
You both suck. You both need to order a Danish Garand from the CMP and mail it to me as part of your shameful penance! |
Youn'gun here has no idea what hawaii 5-0 is. (yeah, i can guess it's smthing to do with it being the 50th state...never heard that before). 10/11 ... missed HI/AK; I can forgive myself. |

#6 "Which countries were our principal allies during World War II?" is a trick question. Soviet Union was never our ally during the war. The old 'enemy of my enemy is my friend' line is a straight-up logical fallacy. The fact that the Soviet Union and the other Allied nations fought the Germano-Italian Axis simply meant that the nations involved were fighting a common enemy, nothing more. And I don't recall actually ever being 'allied' with China in any way, shape or form. Other than the American Volunteer Group (mercenary air pilots) and the Commonwealth activity in Indochina, China didn't really fight on 'our' side. Or is that the 'enemy of my enemy' fallacy rearing its head again? This quiz is bogus. (10/11. Fuck you #6) |
