I have a 26 month old Samsung LED TV model UN46FH6030. About 2 weeks ago the screen went really dim for no apparent reason.  I went on  Google and found that this is a pretty common problem with Samsung junk of many different models.  I see many complaints but absolutely no solutions.  Everything I find says the eco sensor adjusts for picture brightness depending how dark or light the room is. It doesn't matter what input is used screen remains dim.  I tried making room as dark/bright as possible no change.

I have turned off the eco sensor, the energy saver crap and made sure the firmware is up to date.  I have chatted with Samsung online a couple times and went through all the reset, try this/that crap, no change.  Samsung says to start a service ticket and get it fixed.  Yes it's out of warranty and I'm not keen on spending money (Service) to fix something that's likely to return.

I took the back off the TV and there are 3 boards in the POS, a mother board, power supply, and some kind of interface board from the motherboard to the screen itself.  I can find no sensor for eco  horseshit.

I gambled and bought a new motherboard off eBay (59.00) replaced it and no change.

Anybody have any ideas?

For the Tl/dr folks. Samsung TV went dim, how do I fix?

Thanks
Art

Can you manually adjust brightness? Have you tried increasing the light around the light sensor?

No, I tried playing with the brightness settings, contrast settings and all the other settings and still no change.

I tried shining my Surefire all over the TV/case trying to find the sensor but no luck.  I did find a You Tube saying the sensor is in the bezel bottom right corner.  I just tried the flashlight again and no change.

Thanks for replying.
