As I've been aging I've been accumulating more scars. Mostly from things being fixed or removed.
Yesterday I had a 4-week follow-up after my kidney stone removal. The Doc made a comment about the scar where he had gone in to do his work. I replied, "Yeah, I've been accumulating scars as I get older. There's one that looks like an appendectomy scar that I got in a sword fight." He paused and asked, "Really?" "Yep. And this one that you put on my back will be from shrapnel from when the Germans attacked Pearl harbor." Then the light bulb came on and he had a good laugh. Making up stories like that is more interesting than talking about my operations. |

They had to remove the whole thing, plus a few other bits and pieces. Either way, shes got enough titanium back there to make her nearly indestructible.

Buddy of mine from school has several titanium disks in his back, as well as metal framework supporting his spine.
So much to the fact that he has trouble twisting to one side or the other, and can't really bend over to pick stuff up off of the floor. That being said, he has a scar from about his lower back (think tramp stamp area) to his neck, its like an inch and a half wide, looks fucking bad-ass. |
