[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Scars... (Page 1 of 2)

Anyone else "sort of" proud of their scars? I kinda like mine, they all have a story. Some good, some bad, sometimes I just did something stupid, and it reminds me not to do that again. Just looked in the mirror and noticed the scar on my eyebrow.

I have a couple of facial scars and a couple of knuckle scars from tussles over the years. I'm not exactly proud of them, but at this point I'm far beyond regrets.
The rest are from things like wrecking out on a skateboard, hernia and gall bladder operations, dog bites, etc. |

It's more of a reminder of where I've been and what I've done... |

I have one on my arm people ask if it is a shark bite, I landed on hedge trimmer blades after falling off a ladder, the scar is shaped kinda like what I imagine a shark bite would look like. I'm honest when people ask...like I said, the only visible one on my face is from falling on the ice. ![]() |

Oh so true...in that case I would beat myself up for having been stupid enough to injure myself...but thats just me. Quoted:

Not really...I only have two...they serve to remind me of times when my judgement wasn't what it should have been... Sometimes judgement doesn't matter...I lost the tip of my left thumb years ago, wasn't my choice. ![]() |
| only really noticeable one is the 2" gauge on my elbow. A buddy of mine jumped on my back and I had a pen/pencil in my FR pocket. I bent over and swung back and forth and put a nice gauge in my elbow with the pen/pencil...It basically just ripped it so it bled pretty good. It's kinda hard to see cause it's on my elbow. I do have a few small ones on my thumb/fingers too, but that is about it I think. |
| I have a 5 or 6 inch semi circle scar on the left rear side of my head from my cousin hitting me in the side of the head with a pipe when I was six. Its pretty much turned into a game of making up the most ridiculous shit I can think of and trying to convince people its how I got the scar. So far my favorites been that on a school field trip to the zoo I fell into the bear enclosure and had to fight off a grizzly while the zoo keepers got a ladder. |

| The ones from surgeries, motorcycle and dirtbike accidents or fist fights don't bother me. Sometimes I even like telling the stories, even if they sometimes make me sound like an idiot. But the scars from when I got hit by a stolen car while crossing the street, well, they really piss me off. |

Honestly, not at all, detest mine and try my best to keep them hidden, been thinking about trying to cover em with a tattoo of some sort Why hide them, they are part of who you are...and how you got to this point. Mostly personal reasons I wouldn't expect many, if anyone in GD to understand.
Better to leave it at that |

Better to leave it at that I understand, hell...I'm not gonna explain all mine either, but I'm not ashamed of them.

Quoted: Fuck! Did you arm-wrestle Seth Brundle or something?2 weeks out from deployment. Broke it arm wrestling at the bar... http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-ash1/v30/155/40/1925350/n1925350_31702769_3178.jpg |

Quoted: Not really...I only have two...they serve to remind me of times when my judgement wasn't what it should have been... LOL, we're in the same boat: Scar #1: runs vertically up and down my thumb, to remind me not to try to take a model airplane apart with a knife while I'm pissed off. Scar #2: runs horizontally along the bridge of my nose, to remind me not to try to break (already broken) glass out of a picture frame while holding it over my head trying to get it to fall into a dumpster while I'm pissed off. |

Quoted:
Proud? No, why would I be. A couple are from biking (one mountain, one road), one is from a tripod joint closing on the skin of my neck, and one is from nearly slicing the tip of my finger off with a pocket knife. Hardly anything worth bragging about. Like I said already...maybe proud is not the right word. I think of them as part of me, and I'm not ashamed of them and don't try to hide them. They tell the story of my life over the years. |
