The Natural Environment Research Council.
How in the world can an organization commission studies like this and call themselves credible? http://www.nerc.ac.uk/research/programmes/espa/events/ao4.asp Announcement of Opportunity "The Ecosystems Services for Poverty Alleviation (ESPA) programme is a partnership that brings together the Department for International Development (DFID), the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and the Economic & Social Research Council (ESRC) to deliver a planned seven year interdisciplinary research programme, with a total budget of £40·5m." Take a look at this document, specifically "research themes" section 2.3 http://www.nerc.ac.uk/research/programmes/espa/events/documents/ao4-espa.pdf No requests for metrics or measurable data. Just subjective language where no facts can be nailed down. Look like a done deal in "science" to you, or a social experiment labeled as science? I note the terms "expected outcomes". WTF? Science? Where? Looks more like a £40 million jobs program giveaway to me! |
