Well looks I am out 220.00 bucks. Bought a Radio Shack digital scanner of a guy on Radio reference.
Payed via paypal and asked 2 days later if he shipped it. He sent a message back stating there was a tracking number in paypal. Well that tracking number was just notification of shipment and not actual shipped. Waited more time and sent more emails and PM's and nothing heard. Called USPS and they verified it was just a notification. So Filed a dispute with paypal and nothing heard. Escalated to a claim with paypal and still nothing heard. So today filed a BBB claim also. Now my question is there anything else I can do ? Wait and see where this goes? Should I contact local Law Enforcement? |

This is exactly why I use a credit card (even when using paypal because you can use the CC there instead of linking it to your bank account).
Paypal will likely come through for you, but I trust my bank a lot more in a charge dispute. Note that most banks only give you 60 days to start a dispute (visa and mastercard), and I believe AMEX gives you 90 days. You only have to contact them in that time period to get the dispute started, then their investigation can go on a while until they make a decision. . This is a huge hammer to have to reverse a fraud and get your money back. |

PayPal is not an escrow service. They just process the payment. Did you use a credit card on PayPal? If so, I would dispute the charge. If you gave the money to PayPal via another method, you're screwed.
I would keep contacting PayPal. I would also let the forum where you made the purchase know what happened. If you know where the seller lives, you could file a police report, though I doubt very much that anything will happen. BTW - the BBB isn't going to do anything, except take the complaint from you. |

Paypal WILL do investigations and give the guy satisfaction if they agree he is in the right. I've done it and won. But it's not as sure as the bank dispute. Paypal is squirrely, besides being anti-gun. Point is, they can do more than just process payment. |
