Hey guys Im gonna sell my CAI Tantal. what's the deal with selling if you're not an FFL? Am I held accountable for anything done after I sell it? Thanks in advance. |

In Colorado, there is nothing you have to do about it. Hanguns on a FTF to a Colorado Resident, I require a bill of sale with the proper info on it. Rifles I just let go with no paperwork. Showing ID in a FTF is always a must so I know they are a Colorado resident. I also try to sell or trade to CCW holders. If it is going over state lines, then obvioulsy go through an FFL. Good luck Check your local laws first.

Things may be different in YOUR state, but in most cases a FTF transaction with a resident who does not cross state lines to buy or sell said firearm is good to go, no dealer needed. I ALWAYS get a bill of sale (the CYA part you mentioned) with serial number, make, model of firearm as well as name, and address of both parties involved signed and dated. If you don't like my rules, I don't sell to you. It pretty much absolves me of any liability once you pay me and sign the BoS. Anything that is shipped or goes across state lines needs to go through an FFL, period. A few things you should know before you buy or sell here... |
