UPDATE 3/17/24--3:31pm Central Rowen just met his new forever family!!!! Now for the drive home to his own house and yard. It's really dusty here.  UPDATE 3/17/24--Arrival in Danbury, CT to meet new dad!!! All that will be left is the drive to forever home.  UPDATE 3/17/24 2:35 pm Central Time: He just crossed the Hudson River with Snert and Mrs. Snert! He is almost to Danbury and his new dad!!!! UPDATE 3/17/24: I was offline most of yesterday but ROWEN KEPT MOVING!!!! Thanks to our amazing members, he has traveled from the Atlanta area, all the way to Pennsylvania, and will be home tonight in Connecticut! Pics of his long journey start on page 4, and y'all say a prayer for these drivers today, that all journey with Rowen, and back home safely!  UPDATE 3/15/24: Follow Rowen's journey to his new family in Connecticut--Pics start on Page 4! Thanks so much to all drivers and others who are helping! Show off those Fluffers!  ~~ UPDATE 3/14/24, 8:24 pm Central Time: Thanks to this amazing forum, all relay legs are covered! Foster parents @J-SKI dropped off Rowen to @Spuddicus tonight. Spuddicus will hit the road early in the morning, headed north. This southern dog is about to learn what SNOW is!!!! Y'all, say a prayer for our drivers, starting with Spuddicus. His relay leg will be about six hours long. Atlanta area to Greensboro, NC. We can use not only our personal patron saint Mark/Joker1, but any other help from the angels, for safe journey, good roads, and comfort for a pup leaving everything he's ever known. Y'all we are doing what Mark/Joker1 did best--using the best forum, with the best people in the world to get a pup to his new Arfcom forever family! Those best people--that's y'all, in case you didn't know. This is Rowen.   He is going to Arfcom member @Chilipiper ! Chilipiper lives in Ellington, CT, but can drive to Danbury, or into New York State as long as it's not in the NYC area. I think most of us would rather avoid going through the City if we can.  Looks like their are two optimal routes. We will bend and flex to you! The dog travels as fast or slow, and along the route that works for the drivers! The "Eastern Route" through Greenville, SC, up through Charlotte, toward DC, Philly and up toward New York. (harder to avoid NYC this way?)  Also a "Western Route: through Chattanooga, Knoxville, up through Roanoke, Va, to Hagerstown, MD, then Harrisburg, PA, across 84 to Newburgh, NY, and on to Connecticut.  Rowen does come with a crate. It is collapsible, but if you drive a Vette....maybe not that small.  All you in North Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Connecticut, spread the word! Let's get Rowen to his new mom and dad!!!! If you'd like to donate to help us move Rowen, and pay our annual license fees and insurance (due at the end of March and it's a bunch) every little bit is truly appreciated! DONATE HERE Questions? That's about the only time because during the day or early morning and after noon it's terrible Looking at the map, it appears to me that once you get to Maryland/DC, you can shoot northwest just a tad and avoid the city, and that puts you on the same route as the "eastern" route. I don't know that area AT ALL. |

Ok, I can sort of help. I work Tuesday-Friday, can't help on those days. HOWEVER, I can help on a Saturday-Monday run through this area. If route goes up through PA via I-81 to I-84 to CT. I can run from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area, and run to the Connecticut Danbury area. I am located in the 18337 zip code area. |

Am I right about this?  Just thinking out loud because my best friend lives in Potomac, and if the logistics are even half way right, she would give Rowen a place to stay overnight. Georgia to Baltimore is a haul in one day, but..... |

If the new owner wants to do a one way car rental, I will donate FF miles to move the owner to the dog and he can transport himself. BDL to ATL ( Atlanta) or BDL to CLT ( American). Or anywhere that works... |

I'm looking at maybe going the EASTERN leg up to Baltimore, then cutting over to Harrisburg, if drivers are available. Does any part of Harrisburg (or south of there) toward Wilkes Barre, fit for you? (So sorry...I don't know your region at all. I depend on y'all to guide me 100 percent.) I am concerned you are closer to the Philly part and that would be too far. (Or maybe we could go through Philly instead of Harrisburg....???  |

May be able to get doggo from ball ground to raleigh nc on 3/24 if that fits timeline. Brother in law lives in Cary and is coming down for a visit that weekend. If things line up, I’m sure he would be happy to help out and will confirm tomorrow. That would shorten the ride by a good chunk (400 ish miles and 7-8 hours) Damn spelling eta for corrections |

Would need the next leg to be johnny on the spot with the handoff since I will be pretending to work that day. |

Well. Planned route is from Canton, GA which is 20 minutes south of Ball Ground across I20 to I95 to get to topsail beach for the weekend (7hour drive planned) Im offering, if needed, to take I85 north to Greensboro and across I40 to Hillsboro if you have someone that can meet me as close to 1PM EST 3/15 in that vicinity as possible. It will take my drive from 7 hours and just Atlanta to get through to also adding Charlotte, Greensboro and Hillsborough and roughly 8.5 hours total. I would not be able to linger in the area due to obligations at the destination that I absolutely could not be late to |

Will check in on the thread. Im very familiar with the north route as most of the wifes family lives along that 40/85 bit between gso and hillsborough. We drive it several times a year. Happy to make the run if logistics work out for the exchange, I'm burning the gas anyway. |

The option from Baltimore up I-83 to Harrisburg should be an easy trip. It's a longer route than the eastern route, but it works. Just a note about NYC - going your eastern route doesn't mean you need to go through the city. If I was driving up to CT from the south, I'd go up through NJ bypassing NYC, and cross the Hudson river either on the Tappan-Zee bridge on 287 (or whatever we call it now), or up to 84 and take that across into CT. I'm along I-78 on the eastern edge of PA. I'm about 1 to 1.5 hours south of Scranton and 1.5 to 2 hours east of Harrisburg. 1.5 hours north of Philadelphia, I think. I can definitely do something in that area. |

If Heatnbeat can get him north up to the Easton/Bethlehem/Allentown area, I could take the handoff and get him up to Scranton. |
