UPDATE 5/30/23 Mariposa and ELEVEN BABIES are all fine. Looks like eyes might be starting to open. Link to latest puppy photo thread .  UPDATE! 5/15/23 Mariposa went into labor this morning and has 9 puppies so far!!!! Pics page 2! This sweet girl is Mariposa. Odds were stacked against her. She was a stray, pregnant, and brought into a shelter by a family in Georgia after they found her. The shelter in Georgia had put out a last-ditch effort announcement to try to save her, but we never saw that.  Yesterday morning (Thursday, 5/4/23) a volunteer came into the shelter to work, and saw them prepping Mariposa for euthanasia. The volunteer made a frantic call to Jordan, sent the photos, and of course, Mark/Joker 1 must have had a hand in this, because even without a foster to hold Mariposa, Jordan said yes. Mark loved Brindle dogs, and Jordan saw it as a sign. The volunteer literally threw the phone, RAN DOWN THE HALL SCREAMING "STOP! DON'T DO IT!" They had started early. They didn't wait until 7:30. She burst into the room and the needle was already in Mariposa's arm. They pulled the needle out. This sweet girl and her babies were SAVED! Instead of going out the back in a trash bag to the dumpster, she is coming home with Jordan in about an hour, and there will be Freedom Fries!!! I see a beautiful Brindle and some puppies in the future for some of you! UPDATE to add: We now have a wish list for Mariposa and her babies. If you prefer donating "stuff" you can do that here: Wish List for Mariposa and Babies Mariposa had an ultrasound today because she was vaccinated at the shelter, and so often, vaccines will harm or kill the babies. We needed to know if they were alive or not. THEY ARE! Pics on page 2 of that and her FIRST SMILE.  Estimate for her vet costs will be about $250 AND we have to get insurance (a requirement) for SFDR. Costs are between $2000 and $3500 depending on which policy or company we go with. We want to be sure we have the right policy, and are learning/reviewing. So we could use some funding at the moment. Best I can tell, they both take the same out of the donation. 2.9 percent, plus $0.30. Some folks don't like gofundme because they tried to take the money everyone donated to the Canadian truckers and give it to another charity of gofundme's choosing. So they are obviously politically motivated and woke. That said, we have raised most of our money through them in the past. GiveSendGo touts their "Christian" leaning, and they claim to not censor or play games like that, so a lot of people here asked us to get an account there, and we did. We haven't collected a lot there yet, so don't have a lot of experience with them yet. My assumption would be that they will not discriminate against arfcom members, should they make the connection to this site, where we get a lot of our funding. However I tend to give the tiniest bit of side-eye to organizations that tout their Christianity as a sales mechanism, and that's on me. Kinda like the used car salesman who pulls people in by talking about his Christianity. Not saying that's wrong. I'm just a bit jaded. So either is fine with us and you can pick. Neither is perfect, like anything else I guess.  Oh and thank you for considering helping! |

SFDR Venmo...let's see if I can make it hot and have it still work... SFDR venmo ETA: They take a big chunk of it, so I quit using it for my business because I had to charge customers so much more. They may take less for a non-profit. I'm not sure about that. |
