Was out today after shooting at the range, decided to take the jeep for a little test run threw the desert. I ended up, rolling the thing, not hurt other than my little lump on my head and scraped up. Bad part is the thing looks totaled, still drivable mind you. I made it to a friends house several miles down the road and parked it. Talked to some police, was going to file a report but they said I left the scene so could not file a report. Not wanting to get in trouble I said forget about it...The sad part of it there was no scene to leave hell I was out in BFH. Now what do I do???? Will insurance cover this?? Do I still need a police report for insurance.. Yea it was my falt nobody else is to blame. The question is what should I do... The jeep is pretty screwed up to say the least. |
| You do not need a Police report. At least not with the car insurance company I'm using. I had a "Fender Bender" myself a week or so ago and neither party called the police. My insurance is still covering the damages on the car I rear ended. I don't think it makes any difference that you did it yourself. Now its a given that your insurance price is going to go up. |
You obviously don't own a 4x4 otherwise you would know that those of us who do pay far higher premiums so shut yer pie hole already. glad you're ok centermass. |
| I work for a large insurance company that rhymes with 'Fate Starm'. I set up claims for people just like you all night. We do not require a police report to process your type of claim. But if you ask us if you should get a police report, we will tell you yes, you should. Your claim would fall under collision coverage provisions within your policy, and be subject to your deductible. Our policies specifically write exclusions for racing and other fool-hearty endeavours, but you weren't racing, of course. You simply hit a patch of loose terrain when pulling off of the road. |
Gotta love this website, damn wealth of knowledge if you ask me. |
Yea, I don't own a 4x4 and I don't care. My car is a necessity, I drive it to and from work, it serves a legitimate purpose. On the other hand, off roading is just for recreation so why should I pay for accidents that happen from it? should I also pay for a drag racer who got into an accident? |
just like your AR doesn't serve a legitimate purpose? You aren't paying for accidents that happen to him. Those of us with 4x4's do. Drag racers have special insurance. The more you talk the more you reveal just how stupid you really are. I implore of you: shut your pie hole already. |

Thanks guys I called USAA last night and told them what happened. They told me they would send an Insurance adjuster out with in the next few working days to look at the damage and talk to me about my coverage. I do have collision coverage on both of my 4x4s hopefully it will be covered. While loooking at the jeep cherokee today I would say that the insurance company will total it , more than likley. Its pretty messed up and blue book is only like $6500 sad part is I have dumped a bunch of money into this thing, lift kit, tires, rims, roof rack (that got destroyed) step bars (destroyed) Well hopefully it will all work out... centermass69 OUT |
You mean all that chit doesn't make-up for SKILL?!? ![]() Reminds me of *bling, bling* AR15s... (Just phukin' with ya centermass -- glad you're okay!) |
I hope you kept receipts. When the adjuster comes show him the receipts, this could affect the cost of repair. |

There is a lot to be said for being prepared. Insurance companies want to keep prices down and make some profit. To do this, they try to minimize expenditures. The two key expenditures for a claim are time and money. This does not mean that they are looking to screw you, but they certainly aren't going to give you something you don't ask for and can't justify. If you do your homework, know the value of your vehicle, and have receipts and/or good justification as to why your vehicle is worth more then market value, your claim rep will most likely do the best he or she can for you, within their limitations. Time is another key factor. You are probably one of thirty cases your claim rep is handling at the moment. The most productive use of his time is to settle your claim quickly. To settle your claim quickly, the rep is given some discretion in terms of the payout. You may be able to make use of this by being polite and honest. However, if you are rude, obnoxious, or a pathelogical liar, your claim can stretch out to eternity, and you will get the minimum amount due to you by law. I deal with USAA fairly frequently, and they are an excellent company. If you are prepared and honest, you shouldn't have any problems. |
Actually in a perfect world, we should all pay a low baseline insurance rate that would only increase based on OUR DRIVING RECORD. However, this isn't how the world works. Ditto Centermass, glad you're ok as it could have been alot worse. |
That's it exactly. And for the pissy poster talking about paying higher premiums - don't mean JACK. Unless you are paying extra for a 'rider' on your policy specifically covering 'off road use' of your 4x4, you are likely in for a rude surprise if you tell your claims agent 'I was derbying around in the boonies'. I suggest you read your policy in detail BEFORE you need to use it |

You can't insure a bone stock vehicle then put all kinds of custom shit on it and expect the Insurance company to pay for repair of the added shit that you were never paying value for in your premiums. Also you will be paying for the repairs yourself through higher premiums. Insurance companies do not pay out for free. |
Why that SAME EXACT THING happened to me on my motorcycle once many years ago. |
